Threw my rear driveshaft - tore a bunch of stuff up

no offense, but he's probably right. this is basic stuff that a knowledgeable friend could probably catch you up on in no time. it looks like your seal went bad on the u-joint and you didn't have any grease in it, so you ended up with tons of friction and plenty of moisture in there. it's only a matter of time once that starts happening. those seals are pretty lame IMO, anyway, and tend to slip or get damaged easily, even on high-dollar joints. keeping them well greased helps. but if you add too much, it won't allow the bearings to turn properly and they'll rub flat on one side, then eventually allow wiggling in the cap and then you get what you had all over again.

if you can angle the front of the vehicle down a lot, you can get away with leaving a lot of the fluid in there. but if you're draining some, you might as well drain as much as you can and start fresh. be sure to keep things clean. you don't want any junk in the t-case or tranny.

best advice: don't drop the soap...or the needle bearings.

Did you not read the last post? I just said I finished putting the u-joints in. Figured them out on my own. Thanks.

Now I've got other problems, like a cracked tailshaft housing and yoke.

Thanks for the advice way to late though.

Yes, that's a breather hose. Get a new yoke and tail shaft housing. Then there's no problem.

Did you get sealed u-joints or do they have a zerk on them? I hope you got sealed since you'd need to maintain the others:rolleyes:

Well the caps come off and they have grease in them, but there is no grease fitting on them like the factory ones. They have a lifetime warranty, but I don't want them to fail again. How do I maintain these since they don't have a grease fitting?

There isn't really any practical way to grease them. Just check them for looseness or signs of rust when you change the oil. You should have some warning before they let go. I always noticed a little vibration when one of them started to dry out.

Yeah, the thing has been vibrating like hell since I got it. Now I know why. :D
