1987 K-5 with 4" all spring lift, 10 Bolts F & R, running on 35" BFG KO's with Edelbrock TES headers and Y-pipe.

When turning right I feel/hear a thump thump or vibration through my feet. This happens when taking off while turning right and making a right hand turn at speed. I've looked under my rig and don't see anything loose or broken. I do see that the driver side Y-pipe is very close to the front spring lower rear shackle bolt and it appears the two do come in contact since the Y-pipe shows signs of rubbing.

I know it's not my tires, I do have ORD steering braces and new motor mounts.

I am considering having a muffler shop fab up custom Y-pipe to go from headers to single 3" exhaust to get it away from shackles and tucked a bit higher up under rig.

Anyone run into this one or have any ideas?

My ? Is when it happens is it very loud/noticeable in your feet? I ask because then you may have a bigger problem than you think. Have you tried having a friend stand as close safely of course to listen for it so you can pinpoint a rough location? I agree Jesse James that u joints could be it. Also check for a bad motor/trans mount figuring it's coming from the front. Hope you figure it out.

Jessie & sky 56,

Thanks for your responses. U-joints & motor mounts are new and it only happens when turning right.

I'm sure everyone knows the dilema of trying to nail down a gost...can be difficult to locate the real problem. I do have harmonic driveline vibration that seems to be associated with the NP 208 W/HAD SYE dual cardon & driveline kit. Thus my plans to swap in a NP241 W/SYE, new driveline and 14B FF.

Just hoping someone else has encountered a similar situation that I may learn from to shorten my locating the monster thump. Anyone have a cheap way of having a camera film the activity under my rig while it is moving?

Check Toys R us. They have cheapo kids cameras. Maybe you could get one and duct tape it to the bottom? Otherwise, block off the wheels and have someone hold a camera underneath and move very slowly?

The little rubber inner fender flapper was hitting my left front tire when I turned right. Until it tore off. I could feel it under my feet.
