Dropped a 454 into the mouth of the beast, and the clearance between the oil pan and the crossmember seems AWFUL tight. I used 350 motor mounts (i think) Any one else have this problem? Solutions?

Thanks

how close is close?

hey i have the same thing with my 454, are we talking motor mounts or motor mount buckets? i used my 305 buckets and 350 mounts, it has had this set up for all 5 small blocks and now a big block. btw how many cubes is a .30 over 454? i hear alot of people saying that they have 468s but i think that a .30 over 454 is more like 461 at .90 over its like 468? any one know for shure?

Having installed 2 small blocks and 3 big blocks, the engine mounts are pretty much the same you can use SBC mounts for a BBC. The only thing thats different, is where they mount to the frame and the holes. Your mounts might be worn. Replace with new mounts or install Energy poly mounts. I never had a problem with SBC mounts contacting the crossmember even with my 496 doing wheelies in the parking lots! :D

.030 over is 460.4, and .060 over is right at 467 and change

But......almost 99% of rebuilders call their .060 overbored 454 an actual 468.

hey guys thanks for clearing that .30 over thing up.
how far away is your oil pan from the cross-member?
mine looks like it might be touching

for my 396 in a 73 K5(stock x-member) its about 1/4" or so...
its one of those things i keep meaning to address...
