The red CJ in the middle to the right of the Warn buggy is the guy (Jay) from our club.
The Silver TJ to the right of Jay won the event. The Yellow TJ came in second. Third was the quarter elliptical Samurai.
General consensus was that excessive stupid pedal people did better than the rest. Doesn't sound like much fun to me, especially if you don't like to break stuff.

An insane amount of stupid pedal in a very short wheelbase, overpowered, lightweight vehicle would win RTC no problem.
Without a tow test or anything to benefit the big rigs, the little rigs took it big time.
All I took was 14th place, and body damage.

If I had the money/time to cut and turn my front axle, I would.
I have 6" of lift, I think I'm going to go even lower though, it was fine at this height for a while, but I want it lower now.

And you though I was silly for wanting to run a divorced case so I could use normal u-jointed shafts instead of taking a third mortage out on the house and selling my first born to afford a cv capable of operating at a high angle /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I don't need to take out any 2nd mortgage, Jesse is sponsoring me with a free driveshaft. How's that for service?
As to the divorced setup, it puts another driveshaft into the equation, destroys breakover angle, and on a blazer you may have driveline problems anyway beacuse the rear shaft will be too short.
You wanna play, you gotta pay. I have a 4 speed and that makes for a super short front driveshaft. I also have no pinion shims and lots of suspension travel. I need a long traveling and high angle CV, oh well. I'm not going to second guess the way I built my truck just because I broke one driveshaft....I'm simply going to build it stronger next time.

Actually, I have a K20, my user name is from when I had a K5.
The $$$ for a 42 degree shaft is big money to poor folks like me, no free replacement/upgrades here. You're right though about your truck, you are going with the best option.
