"you might want to consider swapping a 14 bolt rear axle"

lol
first reply talking about an axle swap

i swear if my grandma came here and asked for a good tire to for dirt roads someone would mention switching to d60 14bff!

OK lets see here. 35"s + towing a trailer/fourwheeling + 10 Bolts = breakage. If you dont believe me, pm Docawai650 and ask him about that combination. His rear 10 Bolt axleshaft snapped when he flexed out in a small ditch at my school, and the tire fell off when he was doing 45 mph about 1/2 mile down the road (dont even know how it stayed on that long). I dont know aobut you, but I would pay $200 for a 14ff just to have the peace of mind of knowing that something like that wouldnt or even couldnt happen with the ff rear. In the long run you will end up cursing yourself when you break the 10 bolt rear, and have to take the springs, shocks, barke lines etc back off the axle when you could have done it a whole lot easier when you put on the lift. If your gonna do something, do it right the first time. Oh, and BTW, I never even mentioned anything about putting in a D60. Currently, my front axle is a 10B and I am running 37's. I personally dont have the $1000 it takes to buy a D60. Then again, the front axle recieves less power than the rear, its only engaged sometimes, and if it ever does break, I know I can just unlock the hubs and still drive it home without the tire falling off on me.

[/ QUOTE ] Look for a wrecked K20/K30 (Be a real score if you could find a K30 for cheap) that you can get both front and rear axles from (Matched gears). 90% of the time they'll have the lower gears you'll need for for those 35's you're planning on. You'll just need 8 lug rims then.

You said in another thread that you already bought rims which I'm sure are six lug. A 14BFF is an 8 lug axle.

Changing the gear ratio will help out with the power situation, but doesnt do anything to make the 10B stronger. The 10B's spider gears, r&p, and axleshafts are all much smaller and weaker than that of a 14ff. Also, the rear 10B's c-clip design is a weakness because if an axleshaft breaks, the tire falls off.
