did oil change, air filter, rotate tires, grease, check fluids etc on the 2 vehicles we drive most. So while doing the tire rotation on the wife's 2006 Pontiac G6 4 door, I pull the first wheel off and get ready to roll it to the back and I see a hunk of metal in the bottom of the rim. It is a broken piece, so I lay the rim face down and see cracks around all the lug holes going toward the outside. Hmm well I know we smacked one against a curb so maybe I broke it then. I look at the next one same type of cracks. All 4 are this way.
I look at the design of the mounting surface of the rim and there is a 1/16 or so void area around each lug hole and the part that actually contacts the rim is between 1/4 and 1/2 inch from the lug hole. The lugs are the tapered style and it looks like from the repeated loosening and tightening it caused all 4 of them to crack.
Car just turned 100,000 so no warranty or anything, off to look for new rims tomorrow.
any suggestions on where to get em, what to look for in style, make, material etc.
Car is silver in color with a black bra if that helps.
