Looking for tips to building exhaust any one got any?

Will probably just due 2.5 inch from manifolds to they join and come out 3 inch rest way back.

Plan is to get mandrel bends.

What wire size works best with gas???

most good easy to build setups for sbc i have seen in our rigs tend to be 2.5 to a 2.5/2.5 to 3" y-unit . i think magnaflow has the better y-pipe unit for builders . spreads the pipes out a bit unlike flowmaster jambed together .

then a good flowing single in/out muffler i think sounds the best .

yep i was right better room for full weld on the 2 inlet pipes over flow masters .

Way nicer then factory to.

Want to do similar to K85 octane's exhaust I believe.

Also do magnaflow hi flow cat and find muffler that is quite ( maybe walker ss) to make wife and kids enjoy more.

Just gotta get true parts list together.

Can I tack SS Y pipe to mandel bends together and then have a buddy tig it all up?

Not sure 100% on which exhaust piping I should honestly go with advice is always welcomed.

I just did my exhaust recently. Same as you are wanting sans converter. I used aluminized mandrel bends and pipe. There’s a few pics in my build thread. And I used a little bit of tig and mig. .035 wire on a 225 linde. I just pulse welded it and turned out good.

Oh, and a 3” flowmaster is loud. If it’s a daily id do a magnaflow or borla.

Fast where did you get your bends from?

I got everything from summit racing except the v band clamps. I got those from ebay.

It's kind of weird, but if you weld aluminized tubing with stainless wire it doesn't rust nearly as fast. Do you have anything weird in your setup that you can't use an off-the-shelf crossover/y-pipe? Should be reasonable enough that it's not worth the effort to build your own. Also make sure you really want manifolds long-term and not headers.

How much power you got?
300hp?, 400?, Make sure you don't choke your engine...

Stock Tbi
Cfm throttle body with flow match injectors

Cfm spacer
MSD wires cap rotor and coil

Stock manifolds with air injection removed

4.56 gears/700r4

when I built my system I found a builders kit from speedway that was a lot more affordable. Then I bought a 2.5” to 3” merge, 3” magnaflow, a few hangers and a couple flanges.

Not seen a builders kit with both 2.5 bends and 3 inch straight

2.5” kit, and I bought one 180 3” bend and a short piece of 3” to finish it off.
