looking for set of tires for my 87 K5 with 4 inch lift. like 35's or 315/70/17.

Looking at Duratracs only hear good things but the price.
BFG KO2 are supposedly solid tire and good all around (had old ko's they like to hold small rocks and eject them going down road and mud seems to pack up in the tread more then I thought causing slip)
Then Cooper Discover ST MAXX - don't know much on them
Then Nitto Ridge Grappler or Trailer Grappler heard good things on both.

I drive 75% on the road rest trails, little rock nothing big very little mud, snows here any where from 2-8 inches maybe little more some years and we get ice. Open diffs at this time.

So any input on which to think about getting?

sounds like you're leaning toward a good AT tire correct? I'd probably look at the KO2

X2 on the KO2. You can't beat the mix of versatility and durability. I've run KOs and KO2s for years and always get great tread life and have never had a flat.

I'd vouch for the KO2's. The only downside, as you mentioned, is that they like don't clean very well in the sticky mud/clay but they work better than any other AT I've tried in snow and sand.

Fwiw...

We have 33" BFG KM2's on my wife's Jeep. These tires ride great and were pretty quiet when new but now at 50% they sound like Buckshots and are annoying.

I have 35" Toyo AT2's on my daily Dodge (second set) and they are smooth and quiet, I love them. Not aggressive though, about like the KO2's.

I have duratracs on my truck. I love the look and are better in the mud than ko's but as they wear they get loud. They are louder then the ikor's on my blazer.
The duratrac's are a great all around tire and look great on any truck. I dont think they are wearing as good as the ko's. I got rid of the ko's when they were
10 years old and cracked.

Do I really need the E load range for a K5? That can play a part in price.

Thinking I could do a C which is 8 ply no problems?

Thoughts?

Nothing over 5,000 Hoping to get a newer DD within next year since daughter is starting school and remodel is almost over for now on the house.

I ran the Nitto Terra grapplers on my tundra for 3 years.. they looked almost like new when I traded it in. And I never ever had a reason to not like them. All the traction I wanted and not loud on the road. Still my favorite tire

We run the c rated generals on the wife's truck and I run the d rated version, there is a definite difference, even in pressure ratings, hers is 35 psi max and mine are 55psi

Thought about 37's but more :hack:then selections gets less for tires that fit my needs.
