I want to get a new set of tires for the 2003 silverado.

I have 265 75 16 on it now.

Im wanting 255 85 16 for it, but im having a tough time finding a all terrian. i want the ones good for snow, since i drive in the snow alot.

do any of u guys know where i can find them on the web, so i can see the thread design, etc. thanks.

The tires on my truck is abt to be bald, and we had a suprise snow storm last night into today:crazy:

Which particular brand are you looking for?

any good all terrian ones. since im having a hard time finding those sizes everywhere.

Rare size really. I had a set in TrXus MT's and loved them in the winter. Wore well too.

how were they for slushy, snowy, wet, summer roads? and i tow alot over the winter for snowmobiling. reason im worried abt picking the right tires, is cause where i ride my snowmobile normally sees more than 10 feet of snow in 1 winter. So i need a good tires in case i we get snowed in, and i want out:haha: the truxus mt has siped threads for water, etc?

Yep, they were great. We have ****TY winters up here and they were flat out awesome. I'd run them again but none of the sizes I've needed were sizes they had since my 255/85R16's.

Factory sipes + MT tread voids + flexible rubber = great winter tires.

sounds like i found the tires, and u helped me..:wink1: how tall are they on factory silverado rims? how many miles should i see out of them?

I had them on my Ranger with 16x7 rims. They were around 32.5" tall. They were noticeably taller than my buddy's 33x12.5R15's.

You might consider the 285/75R16's as I heard those are the same height but an inch wider while still not being terribly wide...but I like narrow tires so I went with the 255's.

Oh yeah, mileage. I had around 15k on mine under a '96 4x4 Ranger with TTB that would never quite align correctly. They were hardly worn and were wearing well. However I'm anal about rotations (every 3k miles with the oil changes) and proper tire pressures front and rear. I sold it before I bought Big Ugly in 2006 and I still saw it with them earlier this year fairly regularly.

Worst case scenario I'd bet you'd see 30k out of them. I was expecting at least 40k out of them.

i like narrow tires since i want to cut thru the snow better. and smoother ride in the snow instead of going sideways alot because of wider tires, unless u guys say 285s are better? what are silverados factory rim width size? 16 by 7.5?

7" aluminum and 6.5" steel last I knew. I'm not positive though.

i was going to ask if you had considered 285/75/16. i run that size on my 2500 ram, they measure out at approx 34" tall and about 10"-11" wide on stock dodge rims (not sure on the rim width). last winter i bought a set of bridgestone dueler Revo's, i have been really impressed, i was amazed how well the truck did in 2wd in the snow. big heavy diesel in the front, longbed, ext cab, usually needs 4wd to get up my driveway but not with the revo's. i have not had them in any deep snow (6-8" has been the max) but i have approx 32,000 on them since last winter and they are wearing great. just my $.02

yeah i have considered 285s but would like a narrow tires for cuttin thru the snow better. dont get me wrong, i had 285s on my 99 silverado before, they were great but the truck tends to go back n forth because the tires are wider and it pushes more snow than cut. my friends F 350 with regular highway tires that has 255 85 16 goes pretty straight but everytime he stops, then when he goes, it spins the tires. cause its not all terrians or mud terrians. my point is his rides more straight than mine.. and i noticed my 265s ride more straight than the 285s too but one problem is i want like an inch of extra clearance. :p:
thanks for ur point of view! my friends wife has the revos too and they are happy with the tires!
