I asked this question in my build thread but it doesn’t seem like many people see those posts but I’m going to be getting tires soon and I wanted to know what some of your guys suggestions were. I’m going with 31x10.50 15. This isn’t an off-road rig so tread doesn’t have to be crazy aggressive. Im leaning towards bfg ko2s. I’ve had them on multiple vehicles and have been happy with them but I’ve also heard some negative things lately so I’m not set on them. What have you guys ran and would recommend? Also if it can beat $800 that’s a plus. That’s what I’ve priced the bfgs at with mounting and balancing. Thanks in advance.

What is the over all intentions for the rig
you mentioned off road, but the occasional dirt roads?
I have 33x12.5r15 ko2 on my 83 k5 had them for about 2.5 years. They are not noisy, handle pretty good in every day driving.
It's my DD rig with the occasional dirt trails an heavy snow
My sons k20 he has some dick cepek fun country 265/75r16. Can't say much as they are barely 4 months old an no crazy stuff yet, at least he has not said anything to me
My wife's car has cooper at3, hers is an acadia an handles everyday driving an are well mannered.
Non of my tires are noisy an dont wear out fast.
so. Alot of ot depends on where you are driving as well as conditions

So yeah occasional off road/dirt road driving but not rock crawling. mostly on road, daily driver. Definitely an AT tire. I actually have a set of bfg ko2 that are 33” but when I put the 73-80 front fenders on the tires rubbed. That’s why I landed on 31”

I ran the BFG AT tire on several pickups. When I needed some new tires for my non-offroad truck I went down one tread pattern to a less aggressive tire.
I have not had them on long enough to make a full determination, but I wouldn't have gone with a different brand

I have the Fallen Wildpeak A/T3w's on my burb. Love those things so far. They grip well in everything I've driven in so far. Mud, snow, ice, rain, etc.
I almost went with the ko2. But these were cheaper and figured I'd try em.
Ended up with a set of the Falken Wildpeak Trail's on the wife's minivan because of these. And those are awesome too.

For A/Ts I love the Toyo open country A/T. They came out with an AT3 a few years ago that I haven't tried but I have put tons of miles on various sets of AT2s

I prefer the classic look of the BFG AT, its what I grew up with. The construction and quality just isnt up to what a Toyo is.

285/75r17s on the dodge. like 34x11"

i second that, i have 70,000 miles on a set of toyo at's and they look like they can go another 10

I loved the old BFG tires, but they aren't as durable as they used to be since getting purchased by Michelin years ago. My son had a set on his D-max which barely went past 30K miles. He didn't tow really heavily, but probably average, however they wore evenly and quickly. So I believe that lots of the negative comments about them are coming from guys using them on diesel pickups. The power and the weight seem to wear the BFGs out quickly.
I had a set of the old Toyo ATs that wore down quickly on my K5, but they had great traction all around and were quiet. The new ones are supposed to be more durable.
I don't believe that I have heard of anyone being disappointed with Nitto or Toyo recently, heard guys liking Coopers too.

I had 2 different sets of coopers. One was a highway tread and one set was the mud tread.
But pretty much dissolved. I replaced the highway ones on my tundra within 15000mi. Nearly bald. And the mud ones on my 4runner don't hold up real well either. But at least they were mud tread so I expected it... And they did do better than the hwy ones on the tundra lol.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I’ll definitely look into all of these.

I'm running 31x10.50x15 BFG KO2s on my 93 four-door S10 Blazer. They ride well and have excellent traction in all conditions except for mud obviously. But they are wearing faster then other sets of BFG's I've had in the past. Maybe the compound is softer to provide more traction. This is the fourth set I've owned. It started with 235's on my 85 S10 Blazer(circa 1995), 32x11.5015 on my 79 CJ5 (circa 1998) and 35x12.50x15s on my K10 (circa 2006), and I can tell you they're definitely wearing faster, even though I consider my S10 pretty light weight

I’ve had multiple sets of coopers and never had any problems with them. Just put a set on the K10 and the last set on the Tahoe had over 50k on them.

I am running the Pro-Comp A/Ts on my 01 Dodge 2500 diesel.

To be fair about it the ones on the tundra were the cheapest 275/60/18s I could find in a known name. And the mud tread ones didn't have a great life under my 4runner lol. I drove it like a race car on the road and a Baja truck off of it.
Still seemed to wear faster than I had in my head they should have is all.

How much are they rubbing? Try a 32x11.5 instead of going all the way down to 31s. I really like the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT with the new side biters.

They get into the fenders pretty bad, part of the problem is the width I think. They’re 12.50s so I wonder if even a slimmer 33 would work. It’s very possible that 32x11.50 would work but I know for a fact 31s would work that’s why I landed on that size.
