For general non gnarly wheeling are 33s to small? I have a 44/14bolt under my truck and toying with the idea of some 33s to make it more road friendly for the wife and just to ease the tire buying when the time comes. I have 4-10s lowering the size lowers the gearing as well. Any thoughts.. This would be with a 4 inch lift.

33's with 4" lift would work nice with no rubbing and probably no trimming either. you would certainly be able to utilize all up and down travel with no issues.

With a good 33" tire, the correct gearing with a locker or two can get you into a lot of places. You just have to be a little more precise in picking your lines and tire placement when in the bigger rocks.

From the sounds of your goals I think it is a good choice.

Thanks just trying to build something that is family friendly and can be backup if needed. My wife and I talked and want something comfortable capable and most of all reliable, I figured with those axles and a mild lift I should be able to do that. I suppose that skyjacker ,tuff country or bds are all decent riding springs?

Mine is 4" and 33s and is the perfect look in my brain.

But I hate the stuffed tire look, and like some wheel well.

I know for the type of wheeling I do, 35's limit me immensely, which is why I am upgrading tires and axles. But that's just me, YMMV.

Here's my 91 with a 4 inch lift and 33s. Does everything I need. Part time dd and other time off roading.

Dam Adam you would never know that your rig had some kickass suspension under it.. Such a sleeper except for that donkey d!ck hangin down...

Looks good gooch, and the exhaust was what I was referring too..

Super trapps was all I could figure for where my shocks are in the rear and where the future anti wrap bar will be. No room for bulky mufflers and tubes out back.

Plus they sound awesome

33's work

I've seen some rigs rolling 33's do some amazing things. With the right line and power they wont limit you too much. I plan on running 33's with a 4 inch lift. Just need to decide on which lift, want ORD with Tuff springs but money is an issue... As always... Anyways I'm rambling, you should be just fine with 33's.

Im putting on a ZOne 4" lift right now...its a nice kit, was going to stuff 35's then decided on 33's. 35's just will bog the truck down too much for most of the driving I do, and I dont see much more advantage to going so much bigger.

Fun factor

That's the other part of it too. In my opinion without extra gearing and power you'll have way more fun with 33's than 35's or bigger.

nope. Not saying they're not out there, but if you had a 6" lift, why run 33s? Alternatively, if you had 33s. why would you run a 6" lift?
