Well I am trying to decide on new tire for my 78 K5. I got it narrowed down to 2, BFG AT's, BFG MT's. the truck is mostly on road but if i see something to wheel i will most likly go for it. What ya think?

EDIT: the size is 33X12.50X15
I think i's pretty funny how you narrowed the 2 tires to BFG, and look how many people are trying to throw out other tire choices:haha:

well thats what i thought i wanted but everyone here seems to know what they are talking about so i will listen to them

That's how I do mine. Even have the same siping/grooving knife. Going to be grooving and siping my 38's soon.

Either that or take the tires to a tire shop and have them groove them on a machine. I'd imagine it's similar in WI but here most good tire shops have the machines and will sipe tires. Most will even honor the tire warranty if you buy the tire from them and have them do the siping.
Here's what my Mud Kings looked like after Discount Tire siped them on their machine:

Yeah...I just found that out myself. I guess the STT gets lumped in with the BFG's and others now due to it's 3 ply sidewall. Called the local place earlier and holy hell they aren't cheap(er) anymore.
If you check on Cooper's off brand MT's they seem to still be the older style. I've had a few of them and they worked great for less money as well.

General MT's, Wild Country RVT's, Remington Mud Brutes, Mud Kings, the TrXus MT's, Dunlop MT's, Kumho MT's, etc etc etc etc etc will all serve you well for what you want to do.

I going to see if there is any tire shops out there that will cut sipping into tires if so i will probaly go with a cheap mud tires. I am also gonna keep my old tires mounted and just get another cheap set of chrome wagons. so if i need to do alot of hiway driving put on my nice quite tires, if i go muddin' put on the mud tires. best of both worlds

Honestly most people that I've known or read that were going to do something like that ended up just running the more extreme tires all the time. Changing over to the other set gets to be a hassle and most modern muds handle and ride so nice now that you just don't feel the need to take them off.
