I just got done test driving a '99 ZR2 Blazer. It's got 3.73's, a 5 speed, the 4.3 engine and a rear locker. The tires are Toyo's I think, they're brand new (still got the nubs on them) There are a few things that could be better on this thing but overall it's a decent truck. I've been looking for a 5 speed for a long long time with no luck until now. What do you guys think I should do? It's my daily driver if I get it, but it will get wheeled. I'm trading even for my 2002 GMC Sonoma 2wd so it's not costing me anything. Thanks for your input guys! /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

ps. these are the tires... Toyo Open Country's

Okay, I kind of lied. My payment now is $300.65 and my payment for the ZR2 would be $309 /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

What do you guys think about the push button 4wd? Is there a way to get rid of that system? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It worked (I washed it before I brought it back from the test drive though /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif) but I don't want to have problems down the line with servo's dying, etc.

Re: To buy, or not to buy?

What's the 5 speed tranny in that Blazer also? Is it the t-5 or the NV3500? They didn't offer the getrag in trucks did they?

Re: To buy, or not to buy?

Should be the NV3500 in a '99. The push button t-case is the same as the 1/2 tons so in that small of an applicaion it should be ok. Nothing like a manual t-case though!

Maybe if/when the servo's die in it I'll swap the case or go with one of those "4x4 posi-loc" devices. I'm really starting to drool over having a daily driver to wheel.

Re: To buy, or not to buy?

ok that was NASTY. but it sounds good to me. the push buton just feeds a little motor, you can rip it out and use the little gear to engause it by hand under the truck /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif what my buddy dose with his bronco II

but i was thinking of fabing something up it make it a manule with that little gear /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I GOT IT!!! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Thanks for your opinions guys, it made a huge difference in the way I fealt about the truck. At fist I wasn't sure if it was a good deal or not, but since all, or most, of you agreed that it was good I went for it. I stole the K&N filter out of my Sonoma and I'm putting it in this one( /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ) Don't tell the dealership /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm also doing an oil change and checking out the wheel bearings, joints, brakes, etc. to make sure it's all good or it gets replaced by the dealer. I'll be wheeling it tonight... Maybe I can get some pic's up /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hopefully I don't think the 31's are too small, I might have to get out the sawzall! /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif
