To check for coolant leaks can a vacuum tester be used?

I went to a shop and paid $160 for them to check for leaks pressuring the system. When I picked up the vehicle the mechanic told me there equipment is old and he used a vacuum to test for leaks... same equipment they use to fill coolant with. If you want something done correctly I need to do it myself.

bull sh!t there buddy ....... if it leaks under pressure how can they check under vac ?

and vac use is much newer than older pressure test .

and how do you see the leak point if sucking in and not leaving a trail of fluid ?

if checking for exhaust leak in coolant there is a simple test kit for that but its not related to both of these methods.
