I have a 3" BL with 35's right now and I was thinking of throwing the 6" suspension on, however it would be a year or two before I could make the swap to 1 tons and 40's. What do y'all think about 9" (3" BL and 6" susp.) with 35's? would it look goofy?

I think it might. Looking for 2 cents

Yeah see that's the thing. That body lift would be a superior pain in the @ss to lose. We used red locktite on those body bolts..... hahaha Hind sight is always 20/20

But I will keep that in mind.

My advice would be to put the suspension lift on and ditch the body lift as mentioned.

When you go to bigger tires the best overall way to go is to trim your fenders to fit but you can put the body lift back in if you want. We don't go with more than 1" of body lift due to the issues it can cause.

I know most people are haters of the body lift, but I've wheeled the hell outta this set up I have now and it runs like a champ. I don't do any rock crawling just mud holes so jacking it up works best.... well the Big block helped a little too

But the problem with a body lift is that you never improve any of the suspension parts like you would with a suspension lift. With just a body lift, you throw on bigger tires and you hit the trails with a little more oomph and with stock 30 year old components, you're asking for breakage.

love a 1" BL, but hate, and would never consider a 3" BL... just too long a bolt IMO.. throw in all the other bad aspects of a BL too...

I say ditch it... throw a 1" in later if ya need it... need more, throw zero rates in... need more, hack more...

3" body lift and 6" suspension is too much lift for 40in tires let alone 35s....

When I bought my truck it had 3" body lift and 4" suspension on it with 35s. It was way too big. In fact my truck was bigger than a friends with 38s and 6in on it...

I took the body lift off and changed the 35s to 36s and the truck was perfect.

Get rid of the body lift. I have a 4" lift and 37s, trimmed the fronts a little and it hasn't rubbed once.

please tell me yer avatar chick has bolt-ons...
and if not, who the **** is that:eek1:

sorry, ya must git that alot, and yea sorry for the hijack:whistle:

I've got a 6/3 combo with 35x16 boggers. Personally, I think it looks pretty good, but it also depends on the tires. I think it would be goofy with a set of 35x12.50 AT's, but with 35x16 boggers being as aggressive looking as they are, it works.

So if your setup works so well, why change it? When you do the 1-tons you will be halfway through a suspension lift anyway, so why not put on the suspension lift then? It will save you some U-bolts, anyway.

IMO, 9" is way high for 35's. Whenever I see a truck like that I assume they ran out of money after the lift and couldn't afford tires.

33's and 3" bl (1993)

but you would look like this...

your 9" and 35's would be like my 13" leafs and 40's (2003)

add a body lift and it gets even weirder looking....

13" leafs - 3" bl and 40's waiting militaries and 53's but NJ said NO ROAD FOR U THEN (1997)

My truck looked goofy on 4" trimmed and 35"s in my opinion. Needed the fenders chopped out though because of the uptravel.

Much better on 40s

It's not like these trucks have issues with frame/body flex before you add more leverage at the body mounts. Some extra t-case clearance is good, but you can be running a 6"-8" all spring suspension and still have an excellent ride.

none of these trucks look real goofy. I could afford tires with the lift but 40's and 10b/12b don't get along well... especially when you plant a 454 on top of them. So to save up for D60, 14bff, regearing, and lockers, new wheels....well y'all can figure out that's gonna be a costly weekend there.

So with the 6/3 and minor fender trimming what could I realistically shove under there?

personally you will have the 454 for power.. so id get the tires and try and find a 14bff first.. they can be had around here cheap... then get a d60 and just use the gears that are in it...

there are a few good d60/14bff combos in my area in craigs list for a reasonable price..

think one was d60 4.56 xover rear 14b disc detroit - $1500???

I say you do nothing
drive it
save your money
do it all at once, whatever it is you end up doing
that way, you still have money (on your way to doing the lift etc) for any unexpected problems, like a big block or tranny taking a dump.

I'll tell from expierence there is nothing wrong with the 6/3 combo, been running it for 3 or 4 months now, havent had one problem with it, and I beat the $%@& out of it. And if your running 35's fender trimmin IMHO is not necessary. I run 37/12.50/16.5 and barely touch fender, I mean you really gotta be tucked. One problem is with that height you of course want bigger tires and I'll also tell ya from expierence(this weekend) The dana 44 and 12 bolt dont like 37's even on sand, mud, slippery rock, whatever
