Too big a lift for my tires. Goofy?

And if your running 35's fender trimmin IMHO is not necessary.

This was 2 blocks from my house right after I cut the back of the front fenderwell to match the inner fender. It's a ditch that I have driven my stock K1500 ext. cab shortbed through on 235/85/16s...hardly constitutes "wheeling".

Those were 4" 46" long BDS springs...Might have even had the sway bar hooked up still in this picture, can't remember.

They were 35x12.50x15 MTRs with 4.25" BS.

I already have the fenders cut, I'm not real worried about rubbing right now especially if I got with 9" and 35's  Just wondering how big I could go with no fender trimming/ minor trimming, with 9" of lift. I'd think 40"s but apparently more like 44's

I've always considered cutting more, before lifting more. I'd rather it hit the top of my wheelwell, maxing it's uptravel, than hit the sides before uptravel ends. But 44's LOL wont fit inside the wheelwell at all. Which is why, personally, I think 9" of lift is too high. You can't possibly have that much uptravel to hit the top of the wells.

but that comes from a guy that likes trails and articulation, not a mud guy:waytogo:
different animal and much simpler

Mine has a 6" lift with 2" extra lift in the rear ( to level it out...saggy but syndrome) with a 2" body lift with those new polutyranblablabla rubbers.
On 35" 12,5 15 tyres
Looks pretty cool I think...exept I rather had the 35" 15 15 tyres!
Fender trimming was not an option for me!

It will look fine, I run a 8" all spring on my K20 and when I had 35" BFG's it looked fine not goofy at all

with that said, I would do 4" springs with a Zero Rate and ORD ( or DIY4X ) shackles and keep your Body lift

I have 6" springs on mine now with a 2" body lift and a 2" longer shackle in the front, so total of 9" of lift in the front, 8" in the back on 38s, and it could really use 40's. Of course Im just a mall crawler with it. I dont know that I have a current pic of it in my webshots, I think in those I have a 4" spring, the shackle, the bodylift, and a 1" zerorate so I was an inch lower all around.

I just bought a 84 K5 with a 4/3 lift, 40" gumbo monster mudders( I think their about 38"s) and I hate body lifts so im thinking about removing it and trimming the fenders to fit. What do yall think? Oh its also got a 14B in the rear but its still got the 6 lug 10B in the front for now...

Those are 40" Gumbos with about a 4" taller than stock suspension, no body lift, and the rear axle moved back 2", and the front fenders cut out quite a bit. The rear fenderwell ate one of those tires before I got around to cutting it out, but the front mostly cleared. I am rock crawling. I have since moved the front axle forward another inch and manipulated the rad. core support a little and my new 40"s (only like an inch taller than the Gumbos were) pretty much clear everything. The front is sitting a bit lower now too due to the winch and bumper.

Do you think they will clear with the little bit of fender trimming I have now? I need longer shackles in the front also. And I have a pto winch on the front.

Dunno. We've never seen your truck or it's trimming. That picture of mine shows pretty well the profile of the cut you'd need to make 40" Gumbos mostly clear with ~4" springs and no front bumper. My bumper and m8000 dropped the front about .5-1" from when that picture was taken.

Does that link on my first post not work? ((((

)))) I cant post pictures on here yet, so ill figure out another way if that doesn't work.

Nope. Think you have to make 15 posts before you can post pictures on this forum.

The software was putting an ellipse in the URL for some reason. Fixed it for you.

Can't really see your fenders well. I'm sure everything will clear with that body lift, but if you're taking it off, you'll probably have to cut some more. My fenders had to be cut to match the inner fender and the fang had to be cut flush to the rad. core support. It rubbed a little at full stuff, but like I said, I'm rock crawling and I'm also running 52" rears for front springs, so I have a lot of uptravel.

I will say that if I would ever get around to lowering my bumpstops like I need to, so that the spring cannot inverse curve at all, I wouldn't really have any issues. So, 40"s will fit pretty safely with no body lift if you aren't afraid of cutting, so long as your suspension stops when the spring flattens (that is basically independent of the length of the spring, and answers the question whether a lift spring is 2", 8", etc). I also have a Dana 60...which I believe has about .75" taller perches than a 10bolt/44.

Alright thanks! Ill be happy as long as I get that body lift off of there and im not afraid of cutting the fenders so i will do that as needed.
