Top stuck. Got it off, and added a pic with the soft top on.

I'm trying to take the top off of my 91 and I believe that this will be the first time it's even been taken off.
I took out all 16 bolts that hold the top to the body, unbolted the seat belts from the top, and disconnected the dome light wiring.
I have a highlift in the bed with a 2x4 along the edge for the back glass trying to separate the top from the body but it won't budge. The top is in really good shape, so I don't want to ruin it taking it off, but I want to put my soft top on it.

Any ideas on how to persuade it off? I never had any trouble taking the top off my 85.

Does the top on a 91 have a bolt on both sides of the end of the bedrail that goes up into the top?

My 85 didn't have them, but I felt the head of a bolt going up behind the trim in the back.

Yours didn't have them because some one removed them before you owned it, and didn't put them back in. No one should put them back in unless they have no interior panels, they are a pain in the ass.

That's what I figured, and the ones I took out of this top won't be going back in...

It's a soft topper top, I can take more pictures if you want, just let me know what you want to see. I've had it for about 4 years and had it on another blazer that I had and I don't have any complaints.

If I wanted I could leave the soft top on all year. I actually did on my other blazer. But I think when winter rolls around I'm going to put the hard top back on. I don't need to put the hard top back on, but the plastic windows get stiff when the weather's kinda cold.

Thanks for the info. I've looked at these tops and I guess my main concern is the size of the side windows. They seem small to me... are you good with them?

I just purchase a blazer just like your and had the same problem taking the top off. I will never put those two bolts in the bed rail back in. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372691070.520912.jpg

I never really look out of the windows. If I'm driving it with the soft top on and it's not raining, the sides are rolled up.

I have seen someone on CK5 order one from them with larger windows, in which case it looks a lot like the STC tops. Someday, in the distant future, I'd like to order one from them with the large windows.

Then 85 Jimmy and I could be twins:

I have the soft topper top on my k5 as well... I always have the sides rolled up, but when they are down, it's hard to see thru them, kinda blurry IMO. I run the top on year round as I don't have a hardtop anymore...

Seriously considering buying one of these soft tops for my newly acquired '91 very soon. How watertight are they? I would like to be able to leave it on all summer long and not worry about rain leaking in.

They keep the majority of the water out. I didn't install the foam seals the way the instructions say though. They want you to put the foam on the body itself, I didn't want to put it on the body and have it interfer with the hardtop when I put it back on, so I put the foam stuff on the soft top rails. If I did it the way they wanted it would probably keep more water out. But the water that comes in isn't alot, just a few drips.
