Top truck

Does anyone else feel the same about Top Truck?

I feel that they should not let tube buggies in the competition.

I think their cool, but its suppose to be top "TRUCK" not top buggy that has no resemblance to a road worthy vehicle

i know that technology is cool and too see what people can make, But its not a truck nor do most of them resemble a truck (throwing small panels on dont count to me

cause i got the new Four Wheeler mag, and everything is Tube....sucks

what happens to toyotas with factory axles with lockers, and Dana 60's and 14 bolts

of course your never going to break with 2.5 ton axles or stronger and 15000 pound winches on a tube buggy that weighs 2000 pounds or front and rear steer

along with. while im not against it, some of these guys are using hydraulic steering and 60" tires

im agreed with the truggy limit

I think that is why the went to 10 truck and 10 buggy style rigs last year to keep a truck still competitive. This year is the reunion so a little different.

Yeah I suppose you are right. There should be a limit to that.

Buggies are boring, they're just oversized ATV's.

Top Truck was designed for trucks, the Buggy guys can get their own competition. :waytogo:

Agreed, it should be required to have it registered and street legal :waytogo:

My feeling lately about TTC has been to find the prettiest truck with a driver that has the least experience driving. Not that I want to see them mess up their truck... but if you feel confident enough to enter, let's see what you got.

If they want to have a buggy challenge, maybe they should have "TBC" as well as TTC?

I dont much care for the buggies and overbuilt trucks at ttc these days but its just natural evolution IMO.

Build a race course thats really tough and people are going to start building rigs that make it easier. In turn the designers make the course more difficult and then the rigs are built to tackle it and so on.

I quit paying attention to ttc when they got rid of the rules that required vehicles to be more realistic. I just dont have any interest in who can buy the most horsepower/biggest tires:dunno:

yup.

if a buggy has an advantage, why would you not take a buggy. this challenge is meant to be the pinaccle where they test the best kind of thing. the best these days is different then the best from the 90s.

i think what they should have done is kept real truck challenge. street driven and insured. but theres no money to be made by showing normal trucks do normal things.

to be fair tho. i'm pretty sure the guy that won last year had like under $3000 or somesuch tied up into his buggy. i think thats pretty sweet. maybe a budget ceiling would be nice.
but then it would be top truck under $x challenge.

Once upon a tome TTC had a part of the competition that required street legalness, and you lost points for not being street legal. I loko back at some of the older TTC and they are more exciting to watch. I love buggies, but they have their place, and TTC isnt it.

agreed...

you spend hundreds to thousands on tube, portal or rockwell axles, 50"+ tires, hydraulic 4 wheel steering, winches that can raise and lower axles..

Look on Page 35 of FOUR WHEELER, the buggy is almost 90 degrees to the ground and driving right around an obstacle. seriously?

I dont mean they have to run stock K5 or Jeeps, or toyotas. but you shouldnt be able to put an 8" lifted truck with 40" tires that just barely makes requirements against a buggy that can articulate the tires either direction 4 feet and still be perfectly level..

Buggys have there place and its called Rock racing (where mildly modified rigs cant enter)

I would be happy to see more normal rigs hit these trails and buy the videos

and the TV show sucks. More than half of each episode is replay. and the host constantly says "holy diver!" that shiiiiieeettt is annoying! I need the :banghead: smiley

Hey be nice to Stan he is a cool guy, lives out here too.

Plus Stan could kill you merely by looking at you wrong :weapon29:

No seriously he could

I like Top Truck overall but don't pay much attention much more.

Anyway if anyone gets the mag vote for Cheston Beck, good friend of mine, not sure which number he is
