Tore off all the unneccessary stuff!

AFAIK you can remove the compressor and the condensor (whats in front of the radiator) and be done with it. But assuming you have a serpentine belt, you will need to work around that issue as well.

Idler pulley, shorter belt, something along those lines. I'm not serpentine, I don't know. :)

If you want to do a complete AC delete, you can remove the entire assembly from the passenger side firewall, but you have to fab a plate to cover the hole that will be left, and then find a donor truck with the complete non-AC heater components. The AC blower motor is stronger than the non-AC setups, unless you find the HD heater option setups, which are fairly scarce. Even then they won't blow as much air as the AC setups.

You still have a long way to go...

Vacum ports stil there, electrical wires on ther unessesarily long run to the starter, ac pieces still there.

Dont hack it up, do it right:rolleyes:

If it runs right, there is absolutely NO reason to tempt fate and remove anything.

The engines are designed to run correctly with all systems in place, removing properly working emissions components only serves to show others that you care nothing about the planet, whatever your own beliefs. (I'm emphasizing that you will only serve to further wacko interests that involve anti-4x4 and trucks) Which is how locations end up with visual emissions checks, and people end up with vehicles that don't run quite right.

They don't rob enough power to be concerned with, and if you can't work around the stuff, how do you do anything else on your truck?

Besides, TBI truck engines are one of the cleanest ones (in regards to underhood clutter of hoses and valves) ever installed by GM.

If you have an idea of what your doing its not hard to remove the missons setups correctly and still wind up with emissons level extremly close (and with a proper carb tune as good as the factory setup...

I find it easier to just remove the systems on older vechicles when the go to hell because its cheaper and easier...

Now if its fine then theres no reason to mess around...

ohim not done yet, its just too cold out to mess with it.
i did a fast job on it just to clean it up a little bit.

im gonna rebuild the carb this spring it needs a little tuning.
ill get better vacuum port caps and clean the wiring up a lot. i want it too look good, not half assed.

i could care less about the emissions crap, personally. yes it is there for a reason, i do care about the environment, but i dont want to replace all the old worn out crap just for that.

ill make it run good the old fashioned way.

thanks for all the input guys

Be careful with vacuum port caps. 1 good backfire and you can lose all of them.

I take out the vacuum port nipples and tap the hole for set screws. :)
