I started getting lots of vibration from my motor, idling up and down on its own, squealing and a loud grinding noise coming from the trans. So I removed the bottom bell housing and found one torque converter bolt scraping the front of the bell housing, one missing somewhere, and the other loose. After tightening up the two that where left the vibration went away. I still get a grinding noise during start up and a squealing noise coming from the flex plate, I think. Could the flex plate be cracked, and what is causing the idling up and down on its own. BTW I put a new IAC valve and cleaned the EGR valve. I'm getting ready to drive this truck of a cliff :angry1:.

You might take the inspection cover off again and then remove the 2 torque converter bolts and move the TC away from the flex plate. If the one bolt was missing, maybe it got hung up behind the flexplate and the back of the block? It might be what is causing the noise.

thats what I'd think.. I dont think it can get out past the plate

After further inspection the three holes where the flex plate bolts to the torque converter are stripped out. I think I'm done with this POS for a while .
