Torque wrench

Torque wrenches in that range aren't cheap.

Be smart about it. Put 100lbs of force on a 6' allen key, or 200lbs on a 3'

If you are 200lbs, turn the axle on its side, and stand on the end of a 3' cheater bar. Your kingpins won't come out, i swear:waytogo:

I wish I was working on a Dana 60 haha.

We need to get one for the shop at work for torquing suspension components on the fire engines.

The largest value is 600 which is ball joint nuts.

Steering box bolts are like 450.

You guys should see the torsion bars on these. They are huge.

In that case....good luck.

Id go ebay for snapon, and have a tool truck calibrate it.

As far as torque wrenches go. Ideally the target range you want your SPEC to fall into, is the middle 1/3 of the range of the torque wrench. So you should actually be shopping for a 1000ftlb 3/4 drive if.you want to be tagging 600ftlb regularly and consistently.

find a semi truck show that does tires. thay will have one and mabye you can bring axle over and have them tourqe it or if a guy is going near your place toss him a few bucks to do it .

otherwise ebay = this PIC 1/3 price of new in my box . allen driver was new tho off truck .

Not sure how accurate it would be but what about a torque multiplier with a typical 1/2in 200ft/lb wrench?

Hmmmm. And I just happen to have a torque multiplier. With no known use for it.

I put mine in with a 4 foot 3/4 breaker bar and then ran the axle over to a friend of a friend that had an 800 max torque wrench. I'm not sure if you can over tighten them but it took far less effort to get the torque wench to pop over at 600 then it did when I was tightening them.

While I will not say don't worry about it I will say that with a 4 foot bar you can put far more torque on them then 600 lbs.
