Tow Rigs to BB8

my tow rig is capable of 80 when loaded but anyone with a brain wont pull that fast as trailer tires are not speed rated oh sorry i tow with a 6.0 gas and the truck with out a load is 6500 pounds but i also drive a western star winch truck for a living

Hey now.

I have made a few too many trips to and from Moab at well over 80 with the buggy in tow. Maybe thats why my trailer tires don't last that long.

It's only real bad when you pass the soccer dad in his sports car that thinks he's hot stuff and he can't catch back up:doah:

We had others that followed us up to Moab, but i don't seem to have any pics of their stuff being yanked up there.

I like the old school dually pulling the 2 rigs. What kind of problems were you guys having?

mainly tire blow-outs on someone elses trailer, Paul had a total of two tire failures, on on the way and one returning.

Travis, with the dually was having some sort of fuel delivery issues, or overheating ignition module, replaced a fuel pump once, a few filters, and i think they finally just tapped directly into the can in the bed of the truck and drew from there, as i think i heard something about possibly the tank selector valve may not have been flowing enough fuel to keep the speeds up or something.

Had a radiator in Pauls Burb decided it didn't want to cooperate on the way to flagstaff, but it wasn't really that big of an issue, it still worked, and kept the engine real cool, the only real issue was the heafty price tag, it was changed out in about a hours time while we were at Travis' place for the night.

but as manetione, TIRES were the big thing this year, Mike had i believe 5 or 6 tire failures, and one on his drive axle of the tow rig, and Paul had the two on the trailer. All caused by older, dry rotted, overloaded tires IMO.

with any luck, there may be TWO duallies pulling rigs up there, or at least somewhere next year :wink1: :D

You guys brought a Wambulance???? Might be a good addition with all the carnage??:dunno:

why would we need a "wambulance" whos whining and crying about anything?

i will admit it was alittle frustrating at times, but we got through it, everybody had a good time while in Moab, i had a "decent" time, as i didn't have my truck this year, so i wasn't able to do any driving, and trying to find a ride with people turned out to be more of a hassle than it was worth,,,

I do know, that next time i WILL be driving, something:D

No body was whining other than me for choosing not to go. I just saw the back of an ambulance in one of the pics and thought it was funny. Evidently not. sorry.

OOOOOOOH !!!! ok, i see it now, i wasn't really sure what you were referring to, as i didn't notice the ambulance before... :haha:

i dunno, if we have these issues again next year, we MAY need one. :doah:
