Toy question

Truck

When GM stops taking government money (my tax dollars) AND starts building something I want to buy (small SUV that is a real 4x4 and can actually hold up, a small crew cab truck that's not a POS, ANYTHING with a small diesel, cars that don't make me yawn and have to work to distinguish from any other car, etc) then I'll buy a GM.

My cousin worked for GKN in Flint. Two uncles retired from GM in Flint. Another is retired Ford. Most of my family is from the east side of Michigan.

Don't blame Toyota for the ****ty quality and "MEH" designs GM is pooping out lately. They have some interesting stuff like the Camaro but the trucks are fail. My cousin told me once my Suzuki was why he lost his job...blah blah blah. Never mind when it was made in 2002 GM had controlling interest in Suzuki...or that GM's push for Suzuki to have unibody "cute utes" like them has severely hurt Suzuki's SUV sales now. Oh...after GM sold off their controlling interest too.
Meanwhile same cousin has had a BUNCH of trouble with several newer GM pickups. Traded his '06 in on a '09 when it had a ton of electrical gremlins at about the 3 year mark.
His sister has a '10 Z71 and has had a bunch of oddities. They had to replace a bunch of engine parts...due to quality issues. Toyota strikes again!

Living here in Lexington, KY I sure do notice a bunch of very happy people working for Toyota in Georgetown, KY making good solid Camry's. The economy here sure has benefited. Georgetown went from a tiny small town 25 years ago to a decent sized city that has a LOT of the jobs in the area. Every charity event or drive you see around here is at least partly sponsored by Toyota. The World Equestrian games last year were largely sponsored by Toyota. A large number of other large companies have moved into the area due to the manufacturing base and labor pool that has come about because of Toyota.

...damn Toyota.

To the original poster...look over the Tundra and if it's good...get it!

(That Dodge you bought croak on you?)

No Its still running, I'm just never satisfied. I was fixed on Dodge 2500's too. But right now I'm just day-dreaming this purchase, (I'm really trying to buy a house). So since I can't do both, I'll focus on the house.

That being said, I love the USA, but I've had tons of trouble with most of the big three's products. The last (new) Chevy 2003 2500HD four door I bought fell apart after 5 years (just after the warrrenty) with only 85K miles on it. Hell I had the starter die and leave me stranded the second year I had it. Honestly a $38K truck on it's second year starter shouldn't go! I loved that truck, and took real goo care of it, but I knew it wouldn't last.

I'm sorry this thread has become a argument over national pride and who is not supporting the USA. But face it, between business, politicians, and the rich, we have all lost something. More companies are outsourcing and selling sub-par products than before. But we as the public keep buying those cheap foreign products. Sometimes we don't have a choice, sometimes we do. BUT DO WE REALLY KNOW WHERE THE MONEY GOES?

Why buy chevy when you can buy chery?

Looks like a knock of a Suzuki Carry or something.
