Sorry, forgot to PM you. I will be down on December 3rd now. Had a problem getting my clutch to work when I got it all together before last weekend. Everything is running good now though /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

woo-hoo! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Jek, dont mean to hijack here, but, if you are really going for lightweight, theres another toy motor to look at, that weighs under 225 pounds, complete with accessories and blower. 4agze, its a factory supercharged and intercooled, all aluminum 1.6L that can be found in the rear of MR2's. IIRC it even has the same bellhousing pattern as the 22re, but i never got a 100% on that. Factory makes 155hp/150 tq, pully changes and injectors can give it 200hp, and it will rev to 8 grand.

Just another idea for you.

Only problem with that would probably be the cost to find one let alone rebuild it? But if you know what vehicle to look for you might find a complete wrecked car...

Actually, it is not a very desired motor in the ricer crowd, and not very well known in the off road community. You can buy running J-spec motors with under 50K miles for under $500 if you know where to look, complete with computers and wiring. Here in the midwest, the cars go for under a grand quite often(at least for as often as the S/C versions come up for sale), rusty, but running and driveable.

I want to run one in a Zuk with a RWD corola 5-speed and the factory divorced Zuk t-case. Lightweight, powerful for its size, and can rev fast and high. I think it makes a great motor for a buggy or Zuk.

this kind of high-jacking is always appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I was going to go with a 22re just cause its the standard toy 4cyl... relatively common and supposedly easy to work on. Running ones seems to go for $400 and up... less if the thing has "issues", quite a bit more if its totally rebuilt. That being said, the entire design goal for this rig is to keep it liiiiight weight... which will hopefully make the rig a) fun as hell to drive and b) less prone to breaking built toy axles. This engine might be just the thing...I'll have to check into this some more, but thanks much for the info! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif You don't happen to have one you're selling do you? just wondering, lol!

No problem, like i said, this is not a very popular motor here in the US because it doesnt have a turbo on it, its got a Roots type blower. You can thank FNF for that /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif. Just search "4agze", theres a lot of info on it out there, but it can be hard to find. Kind of like Pirate, you search for something and you have to sift through all the BS and newbs asking the same questions before you find your answer.

Ive got a few links on my other computer, when i get it back up and running ill post them for you.

someone over on pirate said its not bolt-up to a w56... do you know it will for certain?

j

No, like i said i had never got a 100% on that. But, i do know this. It bolts to a RWD corrola trans, which was put in celica's, which had 22re's. Whether or not there are small differences im not possitive, I stopped hunting for a for sure because i was just gonna run the rwd tranny with a divorced sammi t-case.

EDIT: According to Lord Orange, whos selling his right now(shamless plug), the 4agze has a different bellhousing, but the belhousing bolts to a w56 /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Since the MR2's had the engine mounted sideways would it have side motor mounts? Most engines that are mounted transversely don't have side mounts. Would this be the same for the MR2 engines /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

The MR2 isnt the only car that motor came in, its just the only one in the US that got the supercharger. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Corolla's, when they were still RWD, got the motor too, the MR2 4AGZE is a direct drop in for the Corolla 4AGE, side motor mounts and all.
