TPI or TBI what way to go?

I will need the program, and all that, in the future.
Go to TunerPro and download the RT version, it's free to use but if you keep it please pay the $39 registration so author stays interested! The program has all the bells and whistles like EFI Live at $800. Plus the files are free and does many OBDI. Then you can start to learn it. It will not only do the dis=agnostic side but also the tuning of chip side, one program!

Get the numbers and four letter code off your ECM and we will find you the right files and I have a starter tutorial in the Injection Section!

this is it,,

I stole it, the prior owner just did not have the want to get it put together and running again.

The air cleaner is on it now,,

Nice looking rig!

You have lots of untapped potential in that engine bay.

If the engine's compression is good, getting it fine tuned shouldn't be hard. you couldn't find a better place than here to get it going. :waytogo:

This stuff can make you lose sleep if you let it...

Like I said,, I stole it,, but he named the price, I handed him the cash!

the wiring needs to be cleaned up as well, and lots of little things.

I'm already planning on building my own front and back bumpers.

but it needs to be running first,, TPI is worrying me. but once it is running and I have more time to work on it and play with it,, I'll be happier,,

Stop letting the whole project scare you! Tackle it one wire at a time! One sensor at a time etc... you'll learn as you go, you'll get it running good and have that sense of accomplishment! :waytogo:

Like I said we need the ECM number and four letter BCC Chip code and I'll give you a link to wiring diagrams etc...

TPI looks so good when you pop the hood of one of these square bodys. Can you imagine the sales of trucks or value if they did come 5.7l TPI? :D

I do have to say,,, your right,,,

when you pop the hood,,,, it does look impressive! :waytogo:

I do have lots of other work under the hood cleaning up this and that, wiring and stuff.....

Mmmmm, sounds like you need to come over and do more work. :D

Just incase he's being too obscure, his burb is at my house. Between work and the weather, mother nature is conspiring to limit the amount of work we can do right now.

Seen here..................

Your right,,, but time,, and distance is killing me,,,

Well, as it goes I did not go TPI OR TBI I went for Demon Carburetor.
Trying to keep it simple.

I did find out the Motor was bad. that is the Bad news. the good news is that a GM crate motor 350 in a box cost $1509, delivered, free shipping NO tax, no Core charge.

So I now know, what the history of the motor is, and will be able to move on to many more, takes, in getting the Burb, up to speed and good to go!

Thank you so much for all the info,, it did help me make up my mind to go OLD school, I can now adjust the motor with a wrench and a screwdriver.

Just kind of skimmed this thread, looks like and glad you decided to keep the TPI, it's a much better system I think.

I had a TPI system at one time I was going to install in my Burb, ended up selling it, needed the cash for something, probably another transmission rebuild I'm guessing. I had one in an '88 IROC Camaro, loved it, sounded and ran great.

Now it's all about LS engine swaps.

Also if this truck was an '85, it wouldn't have had TBI in it anyways. Unless I missed it somewhere in this thread, I'm surprised no one mentioned this.

That didn't start until, I believe, '87.

I think they started with TBI in 87.....

I have the build sheet for my burb,, it had the standard Carb,,,

So I went back to a Carb. not that I'm trying to totally Restore it.
I just want a Super, dependable Rig, that I can work on in my driveway,
for many things,, it has the 400 transmission, and once the motor is in I'll see how it is doing, I know it got rebuilt once, so I may get more miles out of that before, I swap the trans out.

I have lots of other things to re-do, but I'm looking forward to it,,

and having a next to new truck for WAy less than the cost of a NEW$$$$$
Truck,

Might want to offer that TPI stuff up in the cflassifieds here or on thirdgen.org if you plan to get rid of it. Not much demand for TPI anymore, so price has gone through the floor (seeing it for $200 complete now) but you might find someone that wants it.

I'm going to try to work a deal with a body shop, to put in all of the window seals, I bought, and make sure all of the windows go up and down.

the Body shop guy has an 80's corvette in the back of his shop, I think he wants to put it on that!!
