Traded a K5 for a K30 tonight

Ship me one D60 and I'll pay your membership for the next 20 years. :wink1: No... really... And I don't see 60's becoming less valuable any time soon, unless someone makes a better front end, which i don't see happening any time soon.

obijuan, up here they vary from some nice and clean rust free truck to ones that are totally rusted out, and everything in between. Just all depends...

79ON40s, my neighbors are pretty patient with me and I appreciate them for that. I don't like 10-bolts though, I tend to do this with 10 bolts:

I'm actually selling one Dana 60 soon I hope for $1000. I basically got a 4.56 dually 60 front and 70 rear for $900, and in turn am selling one of my 4.10 fronts with Dually outers on it for $1000... I did that to kind of trade off from 4.10s to 4.56s. So 21 will be my number by next week, but 22 is now my peak. I know that someone somewhere has more 60's than me, but I figure I'll keep collecting and maybe some day make a record of some sort... in the future when no one cares.

I just want to know where you keep them at?

I understand having a 60 under the front of all your trucks, but don't you ever think to yourself, maybe somebody could put to use one of the ones you are hoarding.

A 60's value is like anything else. supply and demand. It's all the guys hoarding them that drive the price up. I go to swap meets where guys will have a dozen of them on a trailer for sale at $1000 each. Those guys aren't wheelers, they are just in it for the money.

I might make some people mad by saying this but this does belong in the lounge. instead of posting about your great deal and looking for people to congratulate you, you should share in your good fortune and sell some of them 60's to guys who will use them and probably sing your praises for years to come.

I know if I had 22 60's I would quickly have 2 60's, 20 wheeling buddies, and a good start on my sons college fund.

I'm not bashing you, just a little jealous.

i would be a greatful recipeint of such generosity... perhaps give a better deal to us real young guys w/ little income and a very expensive hobby?

please?

haha just kidding...
but seriously

Yeah I didn't mean to make anyone jealous. If I did I'm sorry. And not trying to hoard them either... well maybe I am, but I know alot of local people looking for Dana 60's and I find them for good deals on occasion. But no one who wants one seems willing to get one.

My friend was selling one a bit ago, I told everyone about it... seems like no one would touch it and everyone who wanted one disappeared.

I'm not in it for the money... I'm not in it to step on anyone's toes. I've passed on about a dozen other Dana 60 truck deals in the last year cause I didn't have money or it wasn't the right deal for me. I suppose the problem in my area is those who want a 60 don't have the money and want one for like $400 or less or free outright.

I have to work for mine, sometimes I can end up getting a 60 for no cash out but I had to travel to who knows where, get the truck, pull it out, swap it out, or part it out etc... I tell people to do the same but not many do.

I suppose I could have posted in the lounge, but figured the subject fit "This forum is for the general discussion of almost any truck-related topic"

I don't want to drive up the price of anything... and since my friend had a hard time selling his complete SRW 60 for $800 I don't think the prices of 60's in this area are too outrageousely high cause it was hard to sell it for that. I know of a few other Dana 60 trucks right now I can tell people about but I'm sure no one will want to go take the time to travel and do the work involved to get them.

Anyways, my apologies if I sounded like I was trying to brag. I'm not. But this Dana 60 will find a use, as I have used every one I've had so far even if it was driving on it down the road (with the exception of the latest two). 3 or 4 of the 60's that are technically mine are going into group project trucks that our group of friends will all be driving, not just me.

I also see them as an investment, again not to necessarily profit off of, but when I do get married and have kids, I plan on probably having to sell some front axles or the trucks they are under at the time. For now since I have no wife or kids I guess I can keep them since I can.

And I think part of it is the hunt... I like seeing what I can find, and if I can't get anyone else to grab the deal, and if I can, then I do. Maybe it is an obsession, a problem, or maybe I'm just a little strange (which I am). But for now I have a home and use for the axles I've gotten, and I've worked my hardest to build up a bunch of good parts and Chevy 4x4's as a person without much money... I know I have less money into all my trucks than some people have into one rig, or a brand new truck.

So if I can find you a Dana 60, I'd be more than willing to share the deal and say where to get one and how to go about it so you could get it for not much money but a little hard work.

I'm working on it, I just pulled the tranny and t-case out of the new K30... gonna use the 205 behind one of my NV4500's and sell the TH400 core and adapter down there. Also last night when I was going to Moses lake and back to drop off the K5 and get the truck, my $700 ultra dependable '78 Crew Cab started running like crap. So I have to run up to Ione in another rig, and retrieve an '83 Crew Cab that I'll drive down in. I wanted to be there today, but things never go as planned.

Sounds like you're a lot jealous to me. More power to ya Allen. You know you doing something right when people start wishing they were in your shoes. Some people just like to whine about what other people have.

Well, I can understand the point of how worthless it is for some people to collect things that never use them. I know a few people who buy good stuff, and just lock it away and never look at it or use it. In some ways it can be seen as a waste if its something that other people could use and need.

I need to watch out cause I can foresee me becoming someone like that when I get to my 50's or 60's or 70's if I even live that long. As it is now all my projects would take a lot of years to do them all as I want. And I know alot of guys who have all these projects and ideas that I know will never happen. Theres still hope for me, but I gotta get moving on mine, and not take on any more major ones to keep.
