It's got it's minor flaws, but really is a nice unit. Ever since he's had it I joked with him that I was going to buy it. Well after him asking way too much and no one biting on it, I got more serious with my offers. I guess now he is ready to play ball. I've known him for about 10 years, and I know him well enough to know that he is serious and ready to make it work.Just a thought! Lol!

Dont forget a contingency plan. I assume you dont get the blazer till your done? What if he wrecks it or something else happens to it. Is there an alternative payment? Or you get it upfront? What if you back out? Just thinking aloud.

That k5 is worth 3500-5000 maybe 6 on the right day to the right person.
Minus some details I don't know, at the surface that's not a fair trade. (How much he will help, your true skill level, your tools available, how good he really wants it done, (not a hack job is subjective) how many aftermarket parts are you using vs factory parts, how much he cash he really has)
I would do that job on the side for 2500-3000.

We are going to sit down together and write some stuff up. We both know that we need to protect ourselves, people change.It is best to at least write something down.

I am aware that the hours are subject to change. I know that what ever you think it will take, time wise, to double it. I guess he is aware also, cause he was thinking more like a year total time, which would double the hours involved.I'd take that hours calc and double it.. mainly because your taking some unknown parts and will be adapting it to another relatively unknown condition chassis.. then adding the Ls swap into it with the electrical etc gremlins that can pop up. I think the blazer is worth less mainly because it is a swapped motor, god knows who did it or if it's right, I have done exactly this type of deal.(how I got Ethel). never worked out for me and I ended up not feeling like I got my times worth.. I'd say buy it outright or pass and save the friendship.. seriously, the k5 is not that special even if it's got the 6.5.. look past that part and be honest with yourself :/
I won't really have the opportunity to buy a vehicle like this for a year or so, and the wife and I have been talking lately about an old cruiser for nice drives. Something to take to car shows maybe.Do you really need the 6.5 blazer?
You have a wheeler/ tow rig/ daily/ wife's vehicle.
It is a nice looking blazer. But, I would have hard time trading for a vehicle I don't need.
I would do it for cash and finish off my own builds instead of taking on new stuff.
That said, I understand the addiction. I just bought a 1960 Studebaker 3,000 miles away.... That I didn't really need either.
