Trail Clean Up Truck Project w/pics

The guys over at Maxair are good guys, mostly used their services for custom ac work but always helpful ;)
If you did the lower body section around the stripe what about around the gas tank doors?
The other thing to think about is can they spray it thicker down low and taper off as it goes up so you don't wind up with a big thick edge? Most of the newer trucks have a indent or some sort of seam that you can hide the lining edge under but on those older doors there's just flat door skin so

The MaxAir guys did my TJ 6-7 years ago. I have been very impressed with their work.

I will probably just give Rob some artistic license and let him go to work on it.

Well the truck got dropped off at MaxAir (e470/I-25) yesterday for Rhino Lining. I'm not even really sure what they are going to do. They were excited about the project so I gave them a bit of artistic lisence.

These are the same guys that did my Jeep about 7 years ago for this article on Rockcrawler.com. They did an AWESOME job on the TJ.

Brigham helped me get some doors for all the power window stuff and a 91 style front end for the truck.

Ready for Rhino!!!!

Love the guys over at MaxAir

If you saw how excited he was to get rid of the older front end for the newer one you'd understand....................besides after busting our humps stripping another donor truck that craps going on there :deal:

A selfless 'burb gives of itself so that another may live on :D

Just not a fan of the 82 grille. Part of it is that when I put a real bumper on the front I lose the turn signals in the bumper.

Oh that's true, I thought you had the '80 grille on there, that's cool, '82? no.

i like the artwork on the sticker but loose the jeeps and put some chevys in the pic,i mean it would take like 9 jeeps to hold what the chevy can hold.

the truck is looking great:bow:

That is why I am building a truck and my Jeep is for wheeling. FWIW that is my Jeep in the picture.

Couple of things to remember.

-This is for ALL wheelers not just truck wheelers. (the picture will be on a TRUCK anyway).

-It is a nice senic picture showing clean mountains and tundra. Find me a better one and I will use it.

Stopped in to check on the progress today.
MaxAir got the bed shot. Bottom and bed are done. (paper masking is still on the truck). They also did the inside of the rear fender wells.
Couple of bad camera phone pics.

Dude, nice tow rig.... I mean trail clean up truck.:wink1:
J/K its lookin sweet.

The guys at MAXAIR did a great job.
Bed is all done, they did the rockers all the way down the truck and the inside of the front and rear fender wells. Amazing how much quieter it made the truck. Combined with the tons of RAAMat sound deadening I put in this truck it is actually really quiet to drive.
They did the bed a little extra thick since we were going to be using the truck for real work. Also did it over the bed rails.

Still ugly as can be. But the Rhino looks nice on the bottom. Now it just needs a little real paint on the rest of it.

I am pretty excited to get it up to the Carnage Clean up next weekend...

But as far as the build goes here is what is on the list.

-I need bumpers front and rear to hold the 2 winches. (15k Ramsey and 12K BulDog both with rope from Winchline.com) I also have 6 lights that KC Highlights donated that I need to mount.

-Need some rockers/steps. Want to do something that runs back to the bed that you can step up on to throw stuff over the side. Plus it could be easier to get into

-Need to fix some oil leaks. (valve covers, oil pan, oil pressure sender)

-Need paint obviously. But first I need to do some prep work, need to fill in the cab light holes on the roof with either cab lights or just weld them shut.

-Need to find a stock hood, (personal preference)

-Want to build a rack for the back to hold rakes, shovles, trash bags etc. Hoist for big items into the bed.

-Oddly enough one of the first items I have on "my" list is to convert the front two doors to power windows/locks so that I can get the rear door windows to work (they were already power). I can't roll down the rear windows at this point and that is turning into a big deal with the dogs. So they are pushing this item. I have all the parts I need, just need to do it.

-I have a 1991 style radiator support I need to install so I can put a 1991 grill on it. I just think they look cooler so it will help with the over all presentation.

-I need to hook up the 4x4 shift lever before next weekend and make sure 4x4 actually works.

-Eventually I would like to find a D60 for the front. Not critical since it will never be a hardcore wheeler but I feel the D44 subtracts from the trucks cool factor.

-I need to hook up.fab up the parking brake.

-Still need to wire the heater, wipers, hazards. Need to rewire the fuel tank selector and rerout the fuel lines again.

-I have a 6 switch control panel from PainlessWiring too that needs to be installed when some of the other items (lights, winches etc) get installed.

-Need to order a oil pressure sender and get the oil pressure gauge working.

-Need the carb REALLY tuned. I still get a little stall from time to time and it bogs under hard throttle. To compound the problem the neutral safety switch only works in PARK right now. So if it dies I need to come to a COMPLETE stop to restart it.

It still needs LOTS of little misc things worked on in the interior too.

I'm sure the list is actually longer than that but that is all I can think of on a Monday morning.
