Progress on the body work has been slow. Here is the most recent picture just for fun. There are lots of cool parts waiting to go on. I will post pics as I get them on and ready.

subscribing... Your doing a good thing for the 4x4 community dude !!
Post up the parts you need as you go along. I don't have
much to donate [ only small things ], but you never know who has something they don't
need and would`nt mind giving to you. Or at least sell you real cheap....??

Spent the day playing with the welder.

We put a bed patch in where the 5th wheel had been. Patched up the last of the rockers. Just need one spot on the back of a rocker and a small section of the passenger floorboard and it will be 99.9% rust free and all steel again.

Also completed a bit more of the wiring harness. Getting closer to a running truck that we can paint.

FINALLY got some more time to work on it today. Got the transmission fully bolted in and some of the cooling lines taken care of. All the front clip has been wired, except for the KC lights and the Ramsey winch for the front.
Need to finish the cab wiring which will include all the Nodskog gauges and Painless 6 switch panel.
Need to wire the back of the truck and the Bulldog winch on the back of the truck. Both winches have been outfitted with Synthetic rope from Winchline.com. Very sweet stuff!! I will get pictures up soon. Still need bumpers to mount them in.
Jeska cleaned the sweet 80s seats that came with the truck and I think I will have to keep those for the moment.

dang this has taken a long time, i had forgotten about this truck. are you gonne keep the cowl hood? i think it looks better without one but thats me. and are you fronting all these parts or are some sponsored to you for the cause.

Lots of stuff has been donated by companies that actually care about the project. The rest of the build falls on my wallet and my time. Which is part of the reason it has been taking a while.

I actually planned on having this thing together for last years Moab EJS. Honestly the body work has simply taken us MUCH longer than we had planned. Part of the problem with the body work is that until it is done it is hard to work on anything else.

I "think" we are very close to having the paint work done. After that we can work on lots of other stuff. There is lots to do still and lots of parts left to buy or fab.

The 700-r4 is a good tranny if built properly, so is a 4l80e if you have the funds. What I'm wondering is in keeping with the whole recycle-green theme, when that tired engine goes belly-up what would you replace it with? propane ? bio-diesel? solar? steam?......ok thats enough.

I have actually put a lot of thought into the engine piece and honestly don't have a great solution yet.

I would love to at least run it off propane. My current problem with that is having to drive the truck long distances (Moab for example) without good sources of propane along the way.

I have tried to find a good dual fuel set up with propane but have not had any luck.

Obvioulsy the old 454 is a gas hog and a little counter productive to the project. So I have been looking at alernatives. The big stumbling block is money. This really is not my wheeler, or my car but a project I chose just to help community image and I can only dedicate a certain about of resources to it. If the cost were not a barrier I think a diesel swap would be very cool and we could go bio on it. I think this would help attract some of the attention I would like for the truck in general. People would look at it and say "OH, how cool of them to do that!!"

I am completely open to suggestions on how to make this truck more environmentally friendly itself.

Need some body work help.

I REALLY want to get this project on to the next stage. It is just at a point where I am not the expert and would like it to look nice.
Scott (Gunter) has done a great job helping get the truck to this point. We have welded in new floors, rockers, cab corners, a whole bedside patched together.
Now it needs body filler and paint. Looking for any help I can get.
We have ground most of the welds down just need to smooth over them, smooth over the patches, address the small dings and dents.
Hood needs smoothed out. It was a custom jobby that is kinda warped here and there, so lots of mudding etc.

At this point I would be willing to let guys take one part at a time to work on and paint if they want. (as long as they all come back the same color;) ).
I really wanted to have this thing on the trail last spring and now we are 8 months down the road and it is still sitting in my garage.

Honorable project. I did the same thing for the American Motorcycle Association, District 37, Rescue 3 search and rescue group. They need an ambulance to get to riders 60 miles into the desert. When I approached many business owners, they jumped at the chance to help. I still loaded $30k of my own money into it.

I would be willing to help with anything except the body work. I suck at it. But my fab and mechanical skills could be of use. PM me.

Thanks man. When we get beyond the bodywork I will post back the other projects.

I want to make some shovel, rake racks, trash bag dispenser etc for the truck.
