Trail Clean Up Truck Project w/pics

After a weekend of work with Brigham I took the truck on it's maiden voyage today. First around the block, then to the autoparts store and then to the closest dirt to take a few pics. Still a LOOOOOONG way to go with lots of work but it was nice to get it out of the garage.

Truck came with this funky 45 degree receiver on it. To get that winch out of my way in the garage I simply stuck it in the receiver to keep it off the floor and let it move with the truck. NOT the permanent location for it. The other one is stored on my work bench at the moment. If I had a way to mount them both I would.

very very cool idea, me and my friends usually leave the trails with a trashbag or two of stuff every time we go. normally just from cleaning up the campsite we stay over at. glass bottles and cans mostly. The idea of a dedicated truck is pretty cool.
theres no way im sitting and reading all 15 odd pages here, so if this has already been thrown out there, i apologize. but as far as the layout of the equipment and storage capacity, you might try talking to a fire department that does forest fires. They have alot of experience with what works and what dosnt when it comes to equipment storage and such on trucks that do off road work. they might have some insights youd find helpful.

Just some more progress and a couple of pics.
-Fully sound deadened the front two doors with RAAMat BXT and Ensolite. (Thanks to Rick at RAAMaudio for donating the stuff to the project)
-Installed an old Sony stereo I had laying here. (Radio only, CD broken).
-Bought some 6x9 speakers to fill the holes in the doors and have some sound.
-Figured out that I am missing a "Heater Relay" under the dash so I can't get the heater to work.
-Installed the front cab vents. Passenger side works great, driver side is broken.
-Sparyed the hood to keep the raw metal out of the elements for the moment.
-Replaced one of the two rear windows that were broken. Need to replace the other one and have them tinted.
-Temp install of the Nordskog GPS Speedo. VERY VERY COOL STUFF. Now I just need to do the rest of the gauges.
-Installed front seat belts. They are blue........ugly but safe.
-Have a pretty big oil leak from the oil pressure sender.......guess that will be next.

It's Official!!! Truck rides like a lumpy pile of rocks!!!!!
The tires were so out of balance there was almost no way to drive it on the highway. I had a shop "try" to balance them yesterday with only moderate luck. (their machine would just not work well with them).
The CC came with a suspension on it. No clue what it is or how it was done. Looks like the stock rear leaf pack (56" with........wait for it.......11 leafs) and 4" blocks. Shackle is pointing nearly vertical.
Front is a ??? with 7 leafs. Looks like 2 of those might be add-a-leafs (one short one long).
Truck has ZERO squat, flex etc. Could probably load my Jeepn ON the bed and not get this thing to flex.
I have a set of Superlift Superride 4" front springs but nothing that will fit the rear of this truck. Ideas?

I second that, he printed my clubs decals, who also happend to be designed by Craig.Scott does good work. I've worked with him before on decals, etc. He prints my designs too. Highly recommended.

Today I made a temporary set up for the Nordskog gauges. I plan on a full custom dash at some point but it is going to have to wait at the moment.
So here are some camera phone pics of the temp set up. These Nordskog gauges are WAY too nice not to be in a cooler dash. (I can post better pictures later)

those are waaaay nice! if you dont mind my asking, how much and where from? Im looking for gauges for my 81, im set on vdo right now, but if those be not too much more, i just might go for them.

They all have memory and programable warning features. Will power external worning lights, shift light etc. The Speedo is GPS driven. 9so accurate no matter what tires size/gear ratio etc.

Taking the truck to get the bed Rhino lined at MaxAir here in Colorado.
We were talking about Rhino Lining the rockers too.
My question is how far up would you line it? There is no real break in the body lines.
My first idea would be just the area below the doors.
Second would be to follow the line at the bottom of the stripe on the back door. It should flow all the way back to the line at the bottom of the tail light.
Thoughts.

Mine's a '73 and I have moldings that run in about the same place as your back door, factory stock. I could get you some measurements if you like.
