Found a hitch that works with a first gen (Early classic.) As luck would have it they are out of stock at the moment. Nice guys BTW! Wal-Mart has a universal Reese hitch that may work.

Here are some pictures from the mock up this afternoon. The green arrows indicates where the hitch can be slid further back creating more surface area with the blazer frame. That being said if I get two bolts per side is that sufficient? I don't plan on hauling anything substantial, lightweight utility trailer with some furniture.

Has anyone went this route with success? Looking for a suggestion or two:

Pardon the lack of patience, I have my eye on a craigslist trailer.

I have a similar hitch on mine, but I mounted it on the inside lip of the frame. I only have 2 bolts through the frame per side holding the hitch on top of the frame. I've use this set up to pull a medium size pop up trailer a few times and haven't had any issues

I've got the early classic hitch. It installed without a ............

Hitch. :)

Two bolts looks like enough for small trailer.

Classic.... I've got the same hitch on mine as Brian.

It took some doing, to include dropping the gas tank but I got it installed. I put the truck to work today.
