Trailer paint

I recently bought a new to me trailer. The wood is kinda ratty and paint is non-exsitant. I plan to put all new lumber on and treat wood. Anyone have a good sujestion as for what to use to protect wood. People have told me usesome lumber like used on outdoor picnic tables, but I am sure thats expensive. So any ideas are apreciated.

I would use pressure treated wood and put some water sealer on it prior to installing it.

I use rustoleum on the metal of my trailer and a quality wood deck sealer on the decking. I also have pressure treated planks. I would stay away from composite material for the decking (such as trex) because that stuff weighs 3-4 times that of wood and it doesn't offer the strength that wood does.

Ideally, Apitone wood is the best for flooring. It's like Iron wood but is very expensive. We use it in our OTR flatbed trailers because it stands up to the abuse of loading and unloading everyday.

If Apitone is out of your budget than I'd use standard doug fir. Pressure treated doesn't make much sence to me on a trailer deck, plus it's ugly!

I am actually in the middle of rebuilding my gooseneck with fresh paint and a new floor. It's going to get doug fir 2x12's and Im going to paint the deck with a regular latex wood paint.
