trailer refurbish

So what are you doing about the placement of the axles?
Do you have at least 3 feet of tongue past the edge of the flat bed?
I just want to see if it is easy to get enough tongue weight when loading it

there is 51" from the edge to the coupler. I used this trailer a lot for 10 years until I had my other one built that was stolen. I usually pulled further forward to get more tongue weight. 75% of the time I had a buddy with me and we would watch the trailer when we loaded and eyeball it until we felt it was good. I have thought about cutting about 2' off the back and that would make it right (to me) but then I would only have a 16' trailer.

Nah, 18' is nice, 20' is better.
It's just more tricky as you have experienced when the axles are that far forward

i just want to know how is the LEGAL gvw going up on the trailer with axle and spring swap. . . . once they get a sticker gvw is what it is .

No, you can change it when you upgrade the axles if you want.
You can also downgrade to make it C class license friendly

I guess I am not real sure what you are asking. this is not a commercial trailer, it is private use. therefore, neither Texas nor Oklahoma inspect private use trailers; and even if they did I am not real sure they would balk at me putting bigger axles under it. I am not going to try to change the GVW on the title of the trailer and just let it be. I did this because I feel like I wanted a bigger safety net when I have something on the trailer. I am sure my K5 with the tons, big tires and exo-cage; or my JKUR all armored up with bigger tires and bumpers were getting close to max weight. if I have current plates on it I am already ahead of 90% of the trailers running around here.

I am sure the laws for your state vary than what mine are.

I think I referenced once before that this is a SLOW build. I went Friday and picked up 6 tires and wheels for this. $625 for all six brand new. a lot of places just the wheels were more expensive. we'll see how long the tires last.

are you planning to copy someone on a dana 70 axle build ?

pay no attention to that axle; it is not mine. I bought it for someone else.
I was asking what it is, not if it's yours.
The picture doesn't really give scale so I can't tell if it's a d44 or d60 or d70.
But being closed knuckle, it is very likely it's what I thought

I got out there yesterday evening and got the tires mounted up. supposed to go help a friend move his wife's car back to their house so he can work on it.
