anybody know anything about or have one of these? my equipment aspirations have outgrown my 10k trailer and i'm looking for a 17,500 gvwr 20 foot. big tex seems to be what everybody carries. i inherited my tandem trailer that i have had forever and have never had to trailer shop

I’ve got an ‘06 Big Tex 12ET (since new) and love it. It’s not a big trailer like you’re looking at but it’s been great. I’ve never had any trouble or quality issues.

I know a few people around here pulling Bigtex trailers. Haven’t heard any complaints. I went with Ranch King myself after crawling around many different brands welding looked best to me. But if that brand wasn’t available I wouldn’t have had a problem with a Bigtex.

Big Tex are good trailers but not the best or the best for the money. If you want the best trailer, get a Diamond C. If you want the best for the money get a Maxxd.

do lots of hands on looking at trailers . in/out/under all over then you will find a lot of big brands SUCK at true fit and finish were most people dont look .

i dont have one that big or looked at to many but i have seen lots of trailers and in the last say 10 years there just pumping them out .

Will do, I found a big tex dealer in Hattiesburg and a diamond c dealer just east of mobile so next day off I'm gonna check em out and compare. I really like they way you can order the diamond c's and customize the axle set up

Brother in law has a 25DU from Big Tex for work. He's had minor issues, but it has held up well for 8 years of everyday use. Minor as in wiring getting ripped out and a fender getting smashed in by a chunk of concrete type stuff. He's happy with it, says it drives nice and the dump is very stable. Visibility sucks, but that goes with the style more than the maker.

PJ Trailers https://pjtrailers.com/ and Load Trail https://loadtrail.com/

I bought a Load Trail in 2004; lost it in a divorce in 2008, bought it back in 2009, and have sold it back and forth between a buddy and me and it is still going good.

I was going to buy a PJ buggy hauler but instead have had 2 trailers custom built for me

Thanks guys, I'll check those out too. If the diamond c option looks too expensive, sounds like I have some options

if you plan to keep it a long time buy it 1 time . . . :deal:

and when you go to look them over take some BIG cardboard sheets to crawl around on the ground or a pair of overalls to slip in first .

Yes sir, for what they want for these, I'll look em over good. The cardboards a good idea

They usually aren’t that much more. The longer the trailer is the more I would recommend the Diamond C. They have an engineered frame that makes them stronger and lighter. 20’ or less it doesn’t make as much of a difference. A 35’ to 44’ there is a whole lot of difference.

I've used a Starlite that I really liked. Don't have one personally due to finances at this time, so I don't have any extended use input, but I want one. Don't know if they have any dealers near you.

I did a ton of research on this about 2 years ago.
If I remember correctly PJ and Big Tex are painted vs powder coated and the cross members are on 24" centers.
Also I believe PJ uses scotchlok elec connectors which I despise.
Lamar, Walton, and possibly Diamond C are powder coated and the cross members are on 18" centers.
Pre Covid, Lamar was the best for price but I was going to go Walton as they had the best lead time and options others didn't.

Good to know, having never priced them I really don't even know yet what range I'm looking at. I think the 20 foot with the 2 8k axles would be perfect though

I'm heading up to Kansas next month to deer hunt so I may work in a trip to a starlight dealer. Looking at their website, I bet the one I have now is a Starlite. It came from oklahoma
