Tranny cooler

Im getting ready to rebuild my motor and it will have a good amount more hp an tq and i was wondering if i need to get a aftermarket trans cooler and if i do do i need to use the aftermarkt one and the stock one i already have.

Not if you got a really decent aftermarket kooler with a fan!

I use the stock cooler and auxiliary cooler - in my opinion, that's the way to go.

I would run it in series with the factory cooler inside your radiator. That's what I did and it worked mint.

Not as expensive as a fried tranny!! Just ordered a B&M one with a fan from summit. Keeps it below 160 supposedly! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Run it in series with the stock cooler. Normally you would run thru the aux cooler first then the radiator cooler. Some go the other way. Get the B&M crossflow type.

If you don't run through the factory cooler you will cook the tranny in the summer and run it too cold in the winter. It needs to go through the factory cooler either before or after the aux. cooler.

From this reply I was going to bet you did not run it through both coolers.

Get the biggest one you can find, run it thru you aux. cooler first, then your factory cooler. Cold tranny fluid is as bad as burn't tranny fluid.
