Here's the game plan at the moment: I'm trying to build a BBC, probably a stroker pushing around 400 to 450 horsepower. I've considered taking my TH400 and converting it to a reverse manual valve body but I've heard alot of people say that even a TH400 can't stand up very long behind a built big block. So here's what I need to know, based off of your experience, would it be a worthwhile venture to go ahead and convert the TH400 or should I just forget about it and go SM465? I plan on getting a Doubler if that makes any differece.

Who the hell said that a 400 couldn't hold up to a BBC?? Build the 400...

ill tell ya right now...i have a th400 and a 500hp BBC and it can easily take it. i havent had a single problem with it and it hasnt given me n e trouble. it has a shift kit and some other parts like that 32 sprag element....but it does pretty good.

***IF** it is done right, a TH400 will handle a HP big block.
