89 GMC K5, 700r4 with 150k or 250k miles.

Started on Monday lurching when put into gear. Drive is much more noticeable than Reverse. Fluid is fine. I noticed this morning on the way into work I can hear gear movement, just barely.

Everything is bone stock so far as I know. Any advice would be appreciated, even what I can look at tonight when I get home.

Lurching when putting into gear can be high pressure from a sticking valve or even from a high idle speed. If it is a valve it may un-stick when driving. Check the idle rpm as it compares to stock and check the tv cable to be sure it isn't too tight or binding.
