What are some good books on rebuildiong auto trans?? Looks like my first tranny rebuild will be a TH-350. Then maybe a 700R4. Just something that can handle a 425HP small block in a K20. Tranny seems OK now but I dont know how long it will last with the motor I am swapping in this weekend :cool1:

I got one at Autozone that is published by Haynes which covers the 350, 400, 700-r4 and a few others. I also have the ATSG manuals and i personaly think that the Haynes does a better job.

I've got a instructional video for the 700R4... pm me if that'd work for ya. :)

i only use the ATSG manualls, ive never used a Haynes manual, but if its anything like their manuals for the trucks where they are writen 15+ years ago and almost never updated, i would stay away from them. the ATSG manuals are updated at least once a year, sometimes more.

you can get most ATSG manualls at napa for like $20 or so. i get mine straight from ATSG so i know they are new.

search Ron Sessions This way you can order it on line at the store of your choice.
He has written several books on GM transmissions.

A TH400 may be an easier and cheaper first build. You don't need really need any special tools.

Did you know that the TH 400 has been used in Bently's, Roll Royce and even Ferrari Vehicles.

Automatic Transmission Service Group.

And those ATSG manuals are what i've used as a guide on tearing apart and rebuilding trannys. :thumb:
