will a 89 700r work in a 83 i know it will bolt up ineed to know if it shits with a computer or not im replacing a 400

Yes, the 89 700 uses the ECM computer to control the lockup of the Torque convertor only. You can get a universal wiring kit from TCI or 7004r.com. I will have a wiring harness left over after my swap. But bigbad75k5 may want that with the tranny. Im not sure.
