Trans cable adjustment

Anyone have a link of info on the correct way to adjust the cable to the trans on a 84 K5/700R. If im not mistaken its full throttle on the carb then adjust the cable to 0 slack. Sound about right? how perfect is perfect considering so many trans failures I read about is caused by incorrect adjustment.

if u pull on the cable does it click, i know mine at the trans shop they pushed it all the way in, then simply full throttled the gas pedal and it was set.

yup, it's a setting, not an adjustment....

depress the D button, pull the cable all the way back toward the firewall, release D-button, operate throttle to WOT position.. the cable should click a couple times out...
