Trans Filler Tube O-Ring or Top hat

If your transmission filler tube has the ridge for the o-ring can you still use one of those top hat looking seals? :dunno:

dia of tube were o-ring grove is to fat to let you use the MUCH better sealing gromet style.

if o-ring setup. install 100% dry and seal outside with black rtv and let dry min 24hr's and then fill tranny.

So if you could find a tube without the o-ring you could use the grommet?
Or is the hole in the transmission also different?
 
tube only diffrent.

tranny side hole same for both.

and yes pic you posted takes NON grove tube and much better sealing from leaks.

Can you get a tube for a 1974 350....that looks the same? When did they start using the grommet, and are they shaped the same so that they bolt on correctly?

That's what I did... No leaks to speak of...
