Yeah, not a K5 I know

I don't know much about autos.

The car is an '87 Buick Century. You move the shifter and nothing happens. Any ideas? I haven't looked at the car yet, so I don't know if its as easy as a broken shifter cable.

Century...'87 RWD or FWD?

RWD it won't have a cable, if it's not a console shift, but that's all I can add. :)

Probably cable if FWD.

The shifter cable will be a ground path if other grounds are bad, and it will actually melt the cable in half in some cases. Should be pretty simple diagnosis with eyes on though. :) Could be as simple as a clip slipped off and then the cable.
