Transfer case leak

Well, what tcase, what trans. Where's it leaking from...

Leaking from rear...1990 model I'm new at this k5 stuff..just got it and not sure what it is...

NP241 if stock. Leaking from rear is usually just the seal between the adapter and transfer case. Have you checked the six bolts at the adapter to see if they're loose? I've got a gasket and sealant on mine. Some don't use a gasket and works fine.

It's not hard to replace, just takes time.

I will check in the morning..hope it's just loose...this place is great...it's a Jimmy not a k5 but I don't think there's much of a difference

Is the transmission fluid low? If so its probably the input on the tcase letting fluid in from the trans.

If the tcase is just low on fluid, it might just be the rear output seal, which is as simple as pulling the rear driveshaft, and popping out the old seal and putting in a new one.

Checked all bolts today and they are tight..guess I will get some new seals and put them on next Saturday!! Thanks for all the help!!

I strongly recommend you get a cheap seal puller like this one. It'll make it a lot easier to get the old ones out without marring up the surface. Pop the old seal out, coat the new one with a thin layer of RTV and knock it in. It's a pretty easy process.
