Transfer Case Reinforcement

Damn. First time. Posted on accident before I was ready. Sup, fellas? I could use some advice. That pic shows old setup (np208 with700r4). Was working fine, but I realized there wasn’t anything keeping the tcase from twisting (also needs a skid plate). So a welder drilled some holes into a piece of angle iron and the frame, and now the tcase is kept from doing any rotating at all. I’m not near the rig, so I drew it in on the old pic.
Question: Is there a problem if it’s now too rigid? Any reason why this is a bad idea?
Note: finishing up new setup: 5.3, 4L80E, np208 w/ sye and double cardan.
Thanks in advance!

its the old school way and lots of trucks broke the adapter or tail housing of the trans from to much flex in the frame and limited driveline .

they went to the long brace rod in them 2 bolt holes on t-case up to a single stud/bolt on the 1 bellhousing by the starter .

If the tcase is moving that much you have a mount problem somewhere.

Bad idea from what I understand. I'm gonna let @ZooMad75 tell you the story.
Yep, it's a bad idea. The holes on the 208/241's go to a brace that comes back up to the engine. This way the engine/trans/t-case rotate together as a unit. Bolting the side of the t-case to the frame is going to put the transmission in the middle of a tug-o-war as the engine twists. The t-case won't rotate when the engine does. So it ends up breaking the bell housing, t-case adapter, or t-case housing.

The early 205's did have a mount on the side that was used. They were known for breaking bell housings back in the day to the point that GM stopped using them. I know this from a coworker that was an engineer at GMC truck back in the '70's.

Find the correct brace for the 208/241 and use it. Or run without. Either way, it's going to be better than running the bracket to the frame.

Great info! Thank you. @nvrenuf There’s no movement. I was just trying to be proactive. Turns out my eager ignorance was about to break something! @70jimmy must’ve been talking about the early models. Much appreciated, fellas. That would’ve been expensive!
If any of you have the proper brace and would prefer to have some money in its place, please do let me know.

Hmmm...I assume that’s gonna have to be customized a bit. LS swap, 4L80E. Where exactly is the other end normally mounted to?
