the nut that holds the yoke for rear transfer case output backed off and sheared the bolts off.
i torqued it 110 ftlbs last time and dinged the bolt like your supposed to.
what did I do wrong. this time i torqued it to 140 ftlbs covered it in enough rex lock tight to look like i sacrificed something and beat the crap out of the end of the bolt where the lip is.

can you guys\gals think of a reason that i am missing as to why it backs off

the nut is a crimp lock nut . if it backed off its past its use life point .

what t-case ? this would help with the question you asked .

Enough torks it will squeeze the “g” and “h” out of the word “Tight”

np205 I had new nut i through on i got from offroad design sorry forgot to mention that

Just a couple ugga duggas.

The '72 K5 I had, evidently had a rear output shaft nut on the NP-205 that refused to stay tight and the former owner stripped the threads in the nut,so it couldn't come off and be replaced..
His "fix" was to get his arc welder and weld the nut to the output shaft--and the nut to the inside of the yoke!.:doah:..

Don't do this..

I eventually had to get another transfer case,I swapped it to a SM465 and ditched the TH350,which also had a perplexing issue--no forward gears first thing after a cold start for a good 5 minutes ,longer in cold weather--then it'd go in drive and work perfectly the rest of the day..
