Transmission cooler install location

One of my favorite things about the Magnum gearing is that I can run 2nd gear on the trail and lock up the converter. Keeps trans temps much cooler.

Depending on which trans you have, you can set up the torque converter clutch (TCC) on a manual switch so you can lock it in whenever you'd like. When I had a 700r4 trans, that's how I would run the TCC. The 4l80e with a stand alone controller allows me to program the TCC how I want it to behave so the manual switch isn't needed.

the only thing that scares me is how much torque the lock up clutch can take. I am not sure what that may be. the magnum box might improve the mechanical advantage enough.

I haven't found the limit yet. When I'm pulling our 5k camper I'll use 2nd gear and TCC locked to pull the mountain passes at about 45mph. In that scenario the trans still heats up, but at a more manageable rate.

Yes I can lock up 3rd and second. towing my beach buggy to Big Bear up the back side sr18, there is a section of 8%+ grade. I am down around 25 mph in this section and in 2nd gear. I have tried locked and unlocked. Unlocked the temps went sky high. Locked the temps barely exceeded 200°.
The 01 burb now has the duty to tow up that grade. This year will be the Manx club 60th anniversary celebration, and 26th or 27th annual event in Big Bear.
