Hy Guys
As I live in Europe and American cars are not so numberous on the streets, I need your help.
My K5 has a 700R4 tranny and which is the correct oil for this one, any ideas?

Data:
- '91 K5
- stock 350 TBI
- 700R4 Transmission

THX for help

I put in some ATF from Mercedes (the Dealership I work), but seems not so thick oil, as I have some movement in the trans while driving...

Regular American Generic ATF.

I've also heard that Type F will give you crisper shifts but never had anyone confirm it.

I put a quart or two in when I installed my shift kit and it was too crisp. I hot used to it but I am going back with md3 this time.

dextron 3 or better will be for gm. and if your tranny was bone dry it will be 12-14qt of fluid to refill. pan drop and filter change 5-6 qt refill.

type f is a ford fluid. but i have also heard it provides firmer shifts.

Well thanks for the ideas, but there's no Dextron in Europe my friends, I'll have to check with some local American car specialist, let's see what they can do.

Mobil has a good synthetic that covers a variety of vehicle maker needs, GM's Dexron included.

Dexron III will do the job. It is available "all over Europe".
Texaco has it and I do have it now from Total. It's called "Total Fluide G3". This product meets GM specs Dexron III.
Dexron is just a term GM uses to specify standards the oil should meet.

Good luck!

Danke vell... i will try the Total one. But here in the area there are no Total shops... :(
You see, it's hard to find something.

and BTW, which oil do you use for the engine? mine has a stock 350 TBI, no mods

Nope, or did you miss him asking about the engine oil?

ah, i guess not, somehow i missed it, not sure what's going on with this thing lately, half the time the whole page doesn't load up...

but anyways, i'm still not a fan of that water type oil anyhow :p: :D

And, never use synthetic oil for this engine! It will "clean" the engine from the inside and cause leakages than. The good old mineral oil
is the best choice.

About the ATF: all oilmanufacturers do have ATF that meets Dexron III specs. Just ask around in your area. I'm sure you'll find it.

Ok thanks to all, I guess these are the solutions then:

ATF: Dexron III standards
Engine oil: 5W 30

no worries for cold weather, I won't move the Blazer in winter, as the roads are too salty and I don't want the Big guy to get rusty...I will tread the rusty parts anyway this winter.
