I know people have their preferences when it comes to gaskets. Seeking some different opinions from this group.

I have a TH350 that leaks horribly it has the standard black neoprene/rubber gasket torqued down. It leaks pretty bad. I did not install this.

In the past I have used this type of gasket with a nicr smearing of Gasgacinch and experienced no leaks.

Anyway, what gaskets do you guys run or if you recommend something other than the standard Bkack rubber gasket.

A friend gifted me this nice and purty pan any thoughts on usuing it? I do like the drain plug feature but have read the bolt can come in contact with the filter.

I like the fiber gaskets, brand name Farpack or Duraprene these work well on steel or aluminum pans. Of course, no gasket can seal a bad pan. Make sure the pan is straight and flat and that the bolt holes are not dimpled towards the trans from being over tightened. Also, pan gaskets get a lot of blame when the selector shaft, dipstick tube or kickdown cable are the real leakers.

Is this excessive? Ran my fingers in the pan, wasnt too bad at all, barely any shavings. But some tiny little ittybitty teeny shavings...

I know it was mostly the pan... no doubt, I know these can leak from multiple places. Im not ruling those out but at least one leaky area was the gasket.

Any recommendations on tranny filter make and part#? For TH350

if me skip the chrome pan . . . never had good luck sealing them .

Link to a good one? Maybe, maybe? They’re like 20 different ones from allegedly different manufacturers but all look just like the one in my pictures.
They all look the same on Summit :doah:

how about this one, extra capacity and cooling also: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-14200

Have any of you epoxied a magnet in the tranny pan?
If so, what type of epoxy would work and how big a magnet?

I've used various gaskets, usually Fel Pro or Permatex Form a Gasket (be sure to follow directions to the letter with Form A Gasket which can actually be more forgiving than a regular gasket) with good results. Always make sure the pan flange that mates to the transmission is well cleaned and flat (no bulges around the bolt hole.) and make sure the transmission surface is cleaned really well also. Have had pans with drain plug without any issues. Torque spec for bolts is supposed to be 10 1/2 to 13 lb. ft. and you want to be sure to tighten in a pattern that tightens pan in an even manner much like you do on wheels, heads, etc. I usually run all bolts to contact the do a cross-hatch pattern to tighten evenly. You can tighten w/o torque wrench just tighten evenly. You'll know by the feel of it if you pay attention. The thin steel pan and bends easily so just be careful not to over tighten. YMMV.

I’m going to try this one:

What the hell, right? Ive cleaned the old pan thoroughly, bolt holes, good. Break clean to rag, to mating surface on tranny. Once the new filter gets here and the gasket, put it together. Drop 1 maybe 2 fluid bottles start it up, get warm, keep adding, running through all the gears a couple times after each bottle.

Pretty sure for filter/pan its roughly 4-5 quarts of fluids
