Hey guys haven’t been on in awhile but I’m looking for some help from someone more knowledgeable than myself about my auto-magic transmission( 700r4 1990 suburban). Long story short it had been parked for awhile and I didn’t realize the pan gasket was leaking and I drove it low on fluid. I made 2 runs to the dump about 10 miles from my house and on the second trip home I stopped at the gas station 1 mile from my house. When I left the gas station it acted like it had no first or was slipping. I limped it home and parked it. When i pulled in my driveway on a slight incline it had all the gears again. Checked the fluid and it was low, kind of dark and smelled burnt. I dropped the pan and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary put a new filter and gasket on and refilled it. I also had a new tci corvette servo laying around and tossed it in at the same time( in hindsight probably bad timing on my part) it now has all gears with no slipping and shifts good again however it doesn’t seem to want to stay locked up on the highway. Could I have damaged something with the torque converter lockup by running it low on fluid or could it possibly be something to do with the corvette servo install? Any help is appreciated as im not sure where to begin with my repair efforts. Thanks
