ive seen these connecting bars that atttach from the transfer case to the bell housing somehow on later trucks that usually break and get discarded. I'm wondering if the first gens came with them and if so are they worth recreating?
Yes I have that angle bracket and two bushings as well but that doesn't do as much to directly link between the trans and tcase. Again I don't know if these bars even existed on the first gen but the 4, 3/8" bolts going into the aluminum trans seem like a real weak point that could use the helpThe 67-72 trucks had a bracket that bolted between the frame and the side of the t-case. At least the ones that I have seen.
There were rubber bushings in between the two halves.
I made one for my 700R4/NP205 combo. I haven't had a problem with mine, but I now wonder if the bracket/bushing set-up is better.
Yea I just put energy suspension engine mounts in and I put new rubber trans mounts under the adapter when I rebuilt the 205 last winter but I think your right I should probably go energy susp at all three points. I'd like the drivetrain to be stout enough to see a little airtime eventuallyTwo things seem to break the automatics (other than old age and high mileage)
One is stupidity: jumping, wrong length driveshafts...
The other is torsion. The side mount will help with this. Energy Suspension sells new rubbers, and I would replace those. While youre at it, fresh motor mounts

I have those exact brackets on my 70 do you know if energy suspension makes those two round bushings?this is the combo from factory . i think this one was for 73-up tho tiny bit different.

Excellent fabrication happens to be my forte but time is always an issue I'll have to check this outif you don't mind a bit of fab there is builder kits out there to use a reg leaf spring poly bushing and then make your own .
something along these lines but this specific kit is for tube buggy style frames . https://www.tmrcustoms.com/transfer-case-support-kit-np205-side-mount-chevy
and that kit is over priced I think . can be pieced together for less I think from guys like ruffstuff specialtys and diy4x .
